when Attack on Titan first got popular it out sold one piece

It never outsold One Piece in top manga sales of any year.

No it didn't AOT only outsold OP during the first half of that year and that was mainly due to AOT having 3 volumes out at that point to OP's 2. By years end OP released 2 more volumes and took number one. Since 2008 when volume sales have been made public and kept records of OP has dominated winning every year.

For some reason, I always seem to forget how popular Kingdom is in Japan.

I love Kingdom I really somebody would publish the volumes in English I would buy those up in a heartbeat. I would buy the anime too but I absolutely hate the all cgi style they went with. and the dubbing is pretty terrible.

What a decline from last year for so many series. Too much bomba. OP is dead. spoiler[joke] AssClass finishing in 2nd. Nice. Bleach ends things with a bang.

Not really that is about their end of the year totals for the last 3-4 years staying in the two millions volume range almost getting to 3 million a couple of times. They are actually down 20% in sales from last year. For the most part a very stout fanbase who have stuck with Bleach through all the shit since at least Aizen was defeated.

I'm really excited that all the manga on the list are legally licensed in English except 5: 1. Kingdom, 2. Chihayafuru, 3. Ace of Diamond, 4. DAYS, 5. Major. And it's exciting that a josei manga with no current anime is on the list at all (the live action movies must've been a big boost).

I wasn't aware that My Hero Academia sold better than One Punch Man. I've always been under the impression that it's been less popular. Maybe that's just in the west.

One Punch Man released only 2 volumes this year so it's not really surprising to be honest.

Poor Haikyuu!!, got 5th place and only about 420k volumes till 2nd place. It would be nothing but tomorrow (2nd of December) new volume will be released in Japan so it could get 2nd place but it won't.

For something that's finished and only had 8 volumes to its name, Erased sold really, really well. I wonder if the anime and movie adaptations gave it mainstream appeal. Orange too, with even less volumes - only 5. Plus, its adaptations were more recent. Impressive.

I believe The Seven Deadly Sins beat it in the first half of 2015.

Frankly, I expected Naruto to still be clinging on for dear life, and it probably still is overseas given that it's the best-selling manga in the United States.

Naruto ended in 2014. After 2 years no series will still be in the top 30.

One Punch Man crushes My Hero Academia in individual volume sales but series sales usually go to weekly rather than monthly manga. Plus My Hero Academia got the first season anime boost this year next year OPM will be above.
