This is so sad, espacially i've heard some of his Professor Oak and his narration for the Pokemon anime he voiced. I wonder who's going to recast his Pokemon roles now that he is gone, he did such an significant job voicing Oak, narration and serveral Pokemon characters he voiced.
Rest in peace, Ishizuka, i hope Pokemon SM will have an "In Memoriam" dedicated to him.

You'd be hard pressed to find another voice actor his age who worked as hard. He was in so many new anime right up till the end as well as voicing his countless regular roles for upwards of two decades. Maybe Tessho Genda is comparable.
RIP

One of my favorites, and a huge loss for the industry. He'd been doing such great work this year that I could have never guessed he was battling esophageal cancer. Now his scenes as Cain in Last Hope will have a completely different meaning to me. May he rest in peace.

Loved a lot of his roles over the years, but recently especially for me, he did a great service to Admiral Ryu Hijikata in Yamato 2199 and Yamato 2202.
Thank you for the memories, Ishizuka-san. Rest in Peace.

I am so saddened by this, he was one of my favorite anime voice actors. I'll miss his rich, gravelly tones gracing my screen from now on.

The crazy part is the original voice actor for Heihachi and Mr. Satan was Daisuke Gouri, who passed away several years ago. Unsho Ishizuka took over both those roles after his passing, and now he's passed away on us. His passing away is truly a tragedy upon the anime community.

He died exactly like 9 years after Gouri's passing too as well. Man, what is going on the anime industry today, is it because Japan's has a demographic issues and there aren't more younger people enough to fill up the roles that we're left behind.
