Well, thanks for letting me know when I am allowed to express my opinion and when I don't have the right! You sure are helpful and informative. I was kind of unsure there for a second

"Mostly" nothing, he tried to compare it to shows he can't compare it to without having seen it, and then tried to run away from his original statement with separate arguments and sarcasm. It's that original assertion that bothers me here. Comparing Mnemosyne to ultra-violent OVAs like MD Geist and films like Hostel based on the fact that it has sex and violence and a torture scene is like comparing Cardcaptor Sakura to Patlabor because they both have girls in them, and to Duel Masters because they both have cards in them. Would you take those kinds of comparisons seriously from someone who hasn't even seen the show?

So the argument was that the show is so bad that it's funny?

No, that's a trap statement where you're reorganizing words to fit your own opinion of the show trying to get me, a supporter of the show to admit I thought it was bad when I did't.

The correct statement is that it's so outrageous and offensive it's funny and becomes enjoyable.

End of discussion unless you know the writers personally and can ask them.

Again, a person doesn't have to see a show if it is advertised emphasizing the particular trait they are complaining about. I don't have to watch Epic Movie or Date Movie to know they feature toilet humor and "parody" popular movies.

No, but you do need to watch them to know to what level said "humor" is taken to, just like with Mnemosyne.

Do we have to go there? You enjoyed it; I thought it was garbage, fine. That ends that. But I don't accept that just because I am not telepathic that I can't distinguish the intention of the author in the aspect of gravity versus satire. Mnemosyne is not introspective meta-fiction, it is a gritty genre piece.

Not if people keep talking about the naked body-piercing torture scene or cannibalistic rape.

I found this show rather amusing overall, but it did seem to get worse with every episode. The first one was pretty cool, but episode 5 was easily the least entertaining of the whole series. The sex could have stayed in just fine but some of the ways it integrated into the plot were just weird.

And there were some who thought this wouldn't be licensed.

Meh, doesn't really look like my kinda thing, especially after reading some of the comments on it.
