I'm so sad to hear this, she was one of my favorite authors. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Her stories, at least, will live on.

So sad. I'm going to order the hardcover (on sale at Amazon right now) of the third Howl book to ease the grief.

Diana Wynne Jones was my all-time favorite author. No one could juggle so many plotlines and catch them all at the end like she could. She elevated YA fantasy by expecting younger readers to follow those plotlines--I look forward to reading her work with my future children. This is so sad... Crying or Very sad

Like other people have noted, this is clearly the time to re-read my favorites. Howl's Moving Castle, Dark Lord of Derkholm, Year of the Griffin, and the Crestomanci books will be first. Siiiiiigh.

A tremendous loss. What an inspirational woman. And what a stellar career.

She has created believable worlds of unbelievable depths.

And the film after Howl's Moving Castle rightfully became one of the best pieces of art, ever.
