After watching these 3 strips...LOL. Too bad the Japanese didn't have these gals at the Battle of Midway during WW2. If that caricature of a whale is a whale no doubt Green Peace and PETA will be hot on their wake for defiling sea creatures.

Ah, anime.

At least some of the PVC figurines from this series are cool. Have 2 on pre-order as it is.

The military anthropomorphism continues with this. What's next? Car girls?

I'm actually surprised that so many people don't know about KanColle. It's been making waves as one of the most popular online games in Japan for more than a year already.

Also, I'm really curious about licensing. Do they consider Asia as one whole? I can understand it not streaming in Japan, but what about other Asian countries like Hong Kong or Singapore?

I've noted before, anthropomorphizing ships like these works because there's so few of them, they're all individually named, and each has its own unique history that none other shares which plays into their personalities. There might be a ton of destroyers, but the carriers and larger ships like the cruisers and battleships are either all in single classes or ones consisting of up to 4. That way they can all be specific incarnations instead of one for a generalized concept like mass produced cars or guns.

I wouldn't let the home video license for this go for cheap, considering KanColle is the new hotness in otakudom now. Already has impressive preorders, and unless the anime is just outright awful and kills momentum like what happened to Maoyuu, the fervor will continue for a good long while.

Didn't think MAOYU was particularly great, and I know the BD sales weren't hot, but was the anime so damaging and awful that it killed the momentum for the franchise? I thought ARMS gave it some great production values, and I thought it had enough things holding it together to keep it from being considered one of the worst of the season it was in. Did it not have enough fanservice in it, or were people genuinely upset about how it told its story?

Dunno if I'll give Kancolle much time or thought this season, being aware of it primarily through its various fan art incarnations. Wonder how much of my attention it'd be able to hold.

I'd love to see a harem show where the girls are Japanese swords for the anthropomorphism.
