RIP whatever things he did in Nintetendo both good and bad he was very dedicated and passionate to his work and he helped work on a number of great games over the years. He will be missed dearly.

Yeah, his parents didn't want him to work on video games, but he wound up living one of the most fulfilling lives ever in video gaming. That he went against his parents' wishes and cut his own pay when times got rough at Nintendo shows how dedicated he was.

He was one of the few CEOs who not only rose from the bottom to the very top without being a founder, but one of the few who cared, from the bottom of his heart, about what his company was putting out. Lesser CEOs would just care about if they're making money, but he behaved as if he had a moral duty to fulfill running Nintendo.

I hope whoever succeeds him can carry on his legacy--Hiroshi Yamuchi lived long enough to retire and appoint a successor, and while I'm sure there are people at Nintendo who can pull it off, it'll all be in the hands of people who aren't Iwata.

Didn't know it at the time but the guy single handedly got me into gaming because of products such as the old bricked up game boy and a copy of Mario and Kirby games I don't know which ones but it were the early gameboy ports of those games but I digress without those games including Pokémon yellow I probably wouldn't be gaming today because of him. My condolences go out to his family and pray that they stay strong as we mourn the loss of a man that impacted most of us guys and gals that were born in the 80's and 90's and turned that generation into gamers.

R.I.P Satoru Iwata may you find peace in heaven.

You will be missed, Iwata. Hopefully your vision for the future carries on...directly...to those still at the company.

RIP

He was the only person keeping Nintendo away from being fully mobile. A heroic act that cost him his life. We as fans and the successor to the presidency of Nintendo must keep his vision alive for the sake of gaming.

He wasn't, he was just one of many in the company who believed that gaming must be as inclusive and varied as can be. Which means all manner of games whether console or handheld have a place in the world.

Rest in piece Iwata-san. Thank you for the hard work in programming and leading the company.

He made one of my favourite pokemon games (Gold/Silver) a lot better by adding Kanto to them.

This is a quote from Mr. Iwata that I find to be very memorable:

"On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer."

Although I knew about the bile duct issue last year I was really confident he'd beat that.

He really had a philosophy that resonated with me. I will miss his presence; his Iwata Asks, his Nintendo Directs.

My condolences to his family and loved ones, to Nintendo, and the gaming world.

Rest in peace.
