Sure -- I don't think it's very hard to see why imitation's the dominant strategy. The scope of investment to create an entire show is significant. Copying stuff that's sold well before just seems like a very simple form of risk aversion.

As a Westerner, the whole concept of an overpowered protag runs counter to the narrative traditions I was raised to appreciate. In Western entertainment, we've been trained to like stories where somebody has to struggle and overcome obstacles before ultimately triumphing. OP protags just skip over the whole "struggle and overcome obstacles" thing. It's deeply weird to me and generally unsatisfying except when the OPness is played for comedic effect such as in One Punch Man or this season's My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered.
