Wow. I was reading through the comments and thinking, "This sounds really bad" and then I went and read the article and thought, "This sounds horrendously godawful." Of all the anime to translate into live action, they chose this one??

Ah, well, when put this way, this sounds like it could be an excellent movie to watch while drunk. It's how I watched Battlefield Earth and Electra, and both were hilarious.

The difference is negligible. Most Japanese movies are at best the same quality as a B movie >.>

Agreed. But to be honest I'd rather see them massacre a trashy series as opposed to one that I actually enjoyed.
I'm still recovering from what they did to the Dark is Rising ;.;

While I will say I'm surprised they would make this into a live action, I'd have to add my name to the list of people who would see it. Yes it's one of those guilty pleasure films. It won't be the first and far from the last.
Depending on the cast, good looks and capable of live action martial arts (do we even have anyone who fits that), it will sell well just fine in America. The type of film might be a bit cliche' but it was one of the reasons i liked Kill Bill too.
Sometimes there is nothing wrong with wanting to watch brainless violence with eye candy. If I wanted a great story, I'll watch something else, but for its concept and purpose I don't think it would do too badly. I'd even guess it would do better then some might think, after all violence in the U.S. film market has been done many times, and most of them are successful.

Well, considering nothing has moved on the Lament of the Lamb film in years, I am not holding my breath. That would be interesting. Though they alrady
Also TokyoPop hasn't even moved on adapting their terrible, in my opinion, series Princess Ai. When the president of the company's pet project 'manga' hasn't been adapted after years of talk, I don't know what hope it shows for others. The president wrote and pretty much owns the rights to it. Unless Courtney Love's involvement or lack thereof is holding that back.
Meanwhile, of any of them I'd love to see a Blame! film. Though we're getting a CGI one and it's amazing even that happened. I know Guillermo del Toro is a Nihei fan, so if a live action Hollywood one ever happened, I'd guess it would be his doing. I doubt TokyoPop would be involved. They only have American or English publishing rights.

But then, the whole concept is a bad idea. |
Yeah, Ikkitosen is far from real high quality story telling. A trashy translation actually seems fitting.

What nonsense is that? Anime only features Japanese people? Though I will concur that if the story is set in Japan. And clearly, even if they cast Japanese actors, it still runs like likely hood of being a Hollywood B movie. Hell, wasn't DOA Dead or Alive bad enough? At best we can hope for a trashier DOA with skimpier outfits and trashier fights.

Because the rights were cheap compared to some good manga they have?

I dunno, are we still counting Mai: The Psychic Girl and Domu anymore? Or is there a statute of limitations on the number of years an Hollywood adaptation can remain in "developmental hell"?

Oh the nekkidity!
They are sooo not going to get any A- or B -ist actors to film this. (And if they do, trust me, I'll be doing this T
his is going to be D-list or lower and/or newbies so desperate to "get into the industry" that they'll do anything. AND if they ever make it, they will never, EVER talk about this movie - unless forced to by James Lipton.

It's just the typical elitist sentiment you find with internet asian movie/drama nerds =| (i.e. ZOMG white people ruin movies! ).
Hell, the idea that Ikkitousen of all things will suffer from Americanization is laughable. Seeing what they do about Rymou's outfit ought to be amusing enough tho' ^^;;

i-i think if it's made, that i'll watch it. the comedy and adolescent part of that description definately throws me off though, since the fanservice, etc is a huge part of ikkitousen. and it's really the only reason i read it.
