Well, it's not like I don't understand you. I guess I'll have to break it down in several parts: -It's true that such pornographic material can and is used for such means. But I sincerelly doubt all the thousands of buyers and all the creators of such works are involved in such activities. And to mention a Voltaire principle here, an innocent should not be punished by a culprit's crimes. After all, a kitchen knife can be used to kill. -Cultural Relativism is a poor excuse for anything, really. I'm on your side on that one. And Junior Idols make me cringe... and so does Toddlers and Tiaras. I was already cringing for these things, but now I have a baby brother... I don't need to say more, do I? -And last but not least, yes, Japan is pretty much backwards on many laws (but starting to catch up, and as General MacArthur said, the Japanese are eager to learn). I personally would like to see them actually fight sex crimes with the same eager they fight Internet Piracy or arrest drug consumers (Yeah, call this my bitchslap against Japanese Law). |

Thank you for being so understanding. Fortunately, not all idols have to (or do) undergo gravure photo shoots. I don't think any idol age ~17 and definitely younger should be taking photos like that for the fans, even if it was also for the sake of expressing their sexuality and agency. (And it would be hard to remove how gross the industry can be from their own agency as a person.) Hopefully something will be done to enforce what's going on with the junior idol stuff. I'm really disturbed that they let it continue the way they do, but I guess until more Japanese groups take a stronger stance against it, nothing will change. |

I suppose it could be, as any other type. But it can be managed as well. Also, something like lolicon and shotacon, I just don't see how they really correlate that well to real life pedophilia considering the entire appeal just seems really different to me. For one, characters in drawn fiction have sex drives and basically have adult-like sensibilities towards sex. Meanwhile, real kids are bratty, have no sense of respect for romantic partners and just don't have the kind of sex drives they do in fiction. Not to mention there's a huge gulf between actual appeal of the style of it. I just feel correlating one type of fetish to actual predatory behavior is just going too far. It's no different than anyone who maybe into crazy adult porn fantasies but it doesn't mean they're any likely to be into predatory behavior either. |

Again, I've addressed this point in an earlier post. What you're failing to realize that anything, literally anything, can be used to nefarious ends. It is up to the parents to protect and teach their children to guard themselves from the dangers of the world. If a situation like the above is allowed to happen, it's either the sexual predator's fault or the fault of shoddy parenting. All this is just an excuse to evade responsibility. |

Wow just wow How does that op/ed author even know that this stuff is "fuel for the japanese pedophiles"? How is such a destructive headline justified? And what does that mean? Does this material encourage them to go out and molest the girls of the neighborhood? Does it really generate fantasies that haven't been there before? Is there evidence that material like this induces more sexual crimes in Japan and makes Japan an unsafer place than the US or Europe? Maybe this stuff is even something that releases some pressure that has been building up in some men and would otherwise be released in a harmful way. But that's for sure not on the radar of that author and hasn't even asked one of these questions. The only thing I can agree on with the author is that things like the Candy Doll Collection SHOULD NOT APPEAR ON TOP if you search for candy on a shopping site like Amazon |

Here it comes : the typical blame the victim bullshit. With people like you, you have to wonder why the hell we bother to live in civil societies. |

As for the idol stuff... Imagine how it would feel for hundreds of junior idols and former junior idols if disproportionate amount of rabble rousing from outsiders continuing the crusade (selling fake victimhood) to get this content banned, they would go from being proud of their work (and well adjusted person, to boot!) to start feeling exploited for the rest of their lives, who knows, some may even become suicidal. For all I know, after: -10 years in the (properly & well managed) industry -85 DVDs released -and countless appearances in print https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knZApHrdiXY former jr idols like Tomoe Yamanaka sure is proud of her work, and a well-functioning adult and business-savvy! Let's look at other successes: Rei Kuromiya - She started at the same age as Tomoe and with the number of DVDs almost rivaling that of Tomoe. She's gonna "graduate" soon and become more involved with the group Babymetal (or Ladybaby) that's gaining international fans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAU8st05hFk Saaya Irie - She was everywhere! Anime, dorama, film, variety. Got her humble start as a jr idol... during the Japan-China diplomatic crisis a decade ago http://www.thisistrue.com/saayairie.html and hundreds more... @Kai99 Manga artists do NOT often use real life references! They prefer to draw from their imagination. Manga/anime characters do not normally resemble real life people! I know this because I have many of the translated How to Draw Manga books from Japan and in one of them, it said that they rarely use real references when drawing; they prefer to draw from the imagination. In fact, they don't have time for that, especially if they're having to draw lots of pages.
And I can believe it because I rarely see any real life people in these books used as references; I definitely haven't come across any pictures of real life children! Not only that, I draw in my spare time and I don't like to use real people as references. I prefer to reference drawn characters; I don't really like real life models. So all of you are accusing manga artists of using real children to create 2D "child porn" have no idea what you're talking about! |

I'm starting to wonder why they let these topics be commented on because this all seems to be a replay of every other thread like this.
You have people speaking from their feelings arguing with people who're speaking from facts. It also looked like at some point in this thread that there was an argument between the European users and the Americans. |

Hey Actar it is always the sexual predator's fault. There's no "either". Good god. This thread will be locked shortly. |
