This is awesome. I wonder if there will be a dub on it.

Hot damn, this is awesome. RO RO RO RO RO
I hope this leads to them licensing other 80's goodies that aren't 70 episodes long, like Layzner or Panzer World Galient. Of course, not dubbing them, unlike Dunbine, would be economically viable and smart.

According to the TRSI website, they will be sub only.

This news is another completely unexpected occurrence. Why, this week has been as unpredictable as a game of Russian Roulette!
Though I was never quite thrilled by the episodic escapades of the Lovely Angels, this news raises the prospect of other unavailable 1980s titles being granted much-desired DVD licences.

On further examination, one part of the order page says English subtitles, and another part says spoken languages will be English, Japanese, and English subtitles.
That's what I get for not paying attention.

I remember trying to watch Dirty Pair Flash! back when I first started watching anime, and it didn't float my boat. Before I buy this, I think I'll watch my boyfriends Dirty Pair DVDs, as he has one of the older series, and Flash!
Someone earlier mentioned Gunsmith Cats - if anyone decided to rescue that one, they would be a total hero. Rally Vincent and Minnie May are some of the best female anime characters out there. It's a shame that there aren't more like them.

The listings are for subtitled boxsets, so I guess not, though other parts of the franchise have gotten dubs. Still, it's good to see it picked up, and I imagine the packaging will be nice on top of it. Nozomi's subbed sets have included booklets, thinpack cases, and artboxes, so they're pretty snazzy overall. I'd rather have subbed DPTV then none :)

Dirty Pair TV has only been partially fansubbed. The more time that passes, there's less and less reason for anybody to ever give it a shot. |
The entire series was fansubbed just recently by a one-time group formed for that specific purpose. They had decided that it was never going to get licensed after all these years.
|
For the record, that wasn't my quote, think you misplaced the quoting box while cutting down stuff. Anyhoo, just one of those signs that you should never say never to something getting licensed.

More like $60 with free shipping, since they're having a studio sale this week. If you have a Got Anime membership, it's another $6 off. I think $54 is a very reasonable price.

Considering its age, a dub may not even be possible.

The Flash OVA's and Adam Warren's comics came out of both companies being unable to use Sunrise's designs, but going directly to the author of the novels to license adaption rights and coming up with new looks |
Actually, the story with Flash is a bit more complicated than that. The seiyuu for Kei, Kyoko Tongu, had moved to another country around 1992. Saeko Shimazu decided she didn't want to reprise her role without her 'partner', so when the studio (which was still Sunrise) wanted to do another Dirty Pair series they just went for broke and did a reboot/remake of sorts with new character designs and a new cast.
