This is surprising, I thought Sentai or Funimation would picked this up. I hope Media Blaster could get Ali Hillis to reprise her role as Rio for the anime (She did voiced Rio in the PSP game, Dead or Alive: Paradise. Ali Hillis also voiced Emma Frost in the Marvel X-men anime, and also voiced Karin in Naruto: Shippuden. So she wouldn't find voicing Rio that hard to do in a anime dub.)

This show was pathetic trash and as such it is a perfect fit for Media Blasters who are basically crawling on their knees gasping for breath at this point.

At this point, Media Blasters is suicidal. Of all the cheap yet safe anime they could've tried to acquire following all of the bad news that's been plaguing the company, they choose one of the worst anime in 2011. It was such a pitiful show that I felt like I was insulting everyone involved by laughing at it. I guess it would be a kind gesture to buy MB's release out of pity, but knowing MB, they might end up cancelling this or croaking before that happens.

Given their track record lately with (not) getting titles they have announced as licensed out the door, would you really want them to license something you liked?

I'm pretty huge fan of bishoujo women/fanservice/ecchi and I am gladly looking forward to purchasing the Anime so long as 1) they are reasonably priced and 2) Media Blasters doesn't cancel their release and/or 3) they don't go out of business.

I came here to say this. If I recall correctly, the show wasn't very good either.

I doubt they have the money to dub anything at this rate.

Sorry, but the statement just begged for a more accuracy. Wink

I'm disappointed with this news. While I can understand MB is trying, it's just disheartening to read this news when they've other titles licensed that have yet to see a retailer shelf.

I'm looking at you, Squid Girl.

Rio was so bad fanservice wise I dropped it after the 3rd episode. I wouldn't be surprised if MB turns out like Bandai closing down a couple months after acquiring a new title. Sad to see another once mighty company fall so low as to release garbage like this.

I hope Sentai or NIS can re-release Squid Girl season 1 and get season 2.

I think Media Blasters is trying to do something with Squid Girl; I saw it in the children's DVDs at Target and the "Just for Kids" section of Netflix. I think they may be trying to get a deal on a children's TV channel with all this marketing to children.

I saw this when they posted it on facebook and I was ecstatic. Yay, the new license Media Blasters has been teasing is a show no one cares about! They're not gonna sit on the license of another one of my favorite shows forever!! Laughing

If they needed a fanservice fest people would buy, why not Ladies Versus Butlers? Manyuu Hikenchou? They didn't reach any kind of high success in disc sales, but there's certainly more intrigue and want for them then something like Rainbow Gate. Too rich for their blood?

They do, under their Kitty Media label.

I'm aware of that yes, which is why I mentioned it. Why bother with this sub-par fanservicy, promotion for pachinko machines when they can license some real porn...like they haven't been doing any of lately and there's a lot of good unlicensed hentai they could pick up which would give them some cheap cash on the down low.
