Shocked
Really, that smilie says it all.

This is a very welcome license considering how unlikely this series was to be licensed by anyone (or am I greatly underestimating the apparent popularity?) Every time I've read something about this series I've gotten a combination of vibes ranging from "well, that sounds kinda cool" to "what the heck?"

As an anime fan that prefers watching anime with an English dub, I'm VERY happy MB is going with a hybrid release on this series from the start. (Though I wonder if maybe someone's gotten their info wrong.)

I just hope they use a decent studo/director for the English dub. Their dubs can be really hit and miss due to the budget studio usage.

Anyway, I'll pre-order this one. Squids are adorable. Anything with tentacles rule. Twisted Evil

@ DmonHiro: Heh, so the English dub intrigues you? I thought you were more of a sub-only kinda of fan. (No pejorative implied, just think it's pretty cool if you're a sub fan going "hey, this English dub could be fun.")

I think a lot of us are worried about the dub, but I like the Japanese version with subtitles, so I will be fine, except I would love a blu-ray version, but hell this show is funny and cute enough, that if they release it later on blu-ray, I will double dip.

and sometimes bad dubs can work for a series, I personally think that the dub for kanokon was horrible, but because of the content of the show, I think it works, and I found it funny,

look at it like this, kanokon is kinda like porn, most people do not watch porn for the acting, since it is horrible, they watch for the money shot.....

kanokon is very close to hentai, so we watch it for the fanservice, bad acting is just icing for the cake, and you must eat the cake,

I hate dubs, but I'm interested in seeing how this series is done, and how/if they are going to try to incorporate Ika Musume's ~degeso isms into English speech, or if they are just going to make squid puns like crunchyroll did with the subs.

YES!! Kick Ass!! I'm so happy about this. From what I've seen of it, it seems like a adorably cute, hilarious, and light-hearted series that just makes you laugh and feel good about life.

I can't wait!

Hell yes! Best news I've heard all week. And guys, there's no point in worrying about the dub. You have the option to watch it subbed so quite your complaining and be happy that it's getting both language options.

Exclamation YEAH!!!!

I felt sure Squid Girl would be licensed, although I didn't picture Media Blasters being the one. I wanted Hillary Haag to play Ika Musume but will give this dub a chance.

With a English dub as well. Although I may not be interested in Squid Girl, it's great (maybe even excellent) to hear about a series being dubbed these days. Especially Media Blasters.

As for the price, that actually is fairly reasonable and quite fair given that there is a English audio track with it.

Got to hand it to you Media Blasters, although it's been a while since I last bought a series from you (my latest was Genshiken DX and the second season a while back.) the fact that Media Blasters is dubbing a complete series and for a reasonable price is fairly interesting news.

However, given that this series is being dubbed, I may just give this series another chance.

This was entirely unexpected. I definitely want to buy it, but I'm going to wait for a Blu-ray release. Squid Girl is an HD show and it looks too damn good not to own on Blu-ray. Plus, I already got burned with Queen's Blade, so I don't want to end up with multiple copies of Squid Girl, too.

Also, I hope, at the very least, the subtitles are either the same as Crunchyroll's or they're just as squidtastic as Crunchyroll's; the show wouldn't be the same without all the squidly puns.

Indeed, I always thought Funimation or Sentai would pick Squid Girl, I would've like Hilary Hagg or Carrie Savage ro voiced Ika Musume, I hope MB can give it a good dub.
