I've just taken a quick look at this and yes, seems like it's one of those cases where something is actually as horrible as it sounds like, to say the least. Laughing

The next time somebody tells me that X or Y new show is an unredeemable disaster, I'll be able to point towards Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned and tell them that proper credit must be given where it is rightfully due.

Toei can do worse!

Dracula has been released on Dvd in Italy alongside Frankenstein, Hashire Melos!, Call of the wild and another 80´s tv special with dinosaurs and timetravels, don´t remember the exact title. These titles were aired on spanish tv in the 80´s and in some other european countries as well (at least Italy and France, I believe), so they are not unknown to us.

A while back I picked up this doozy of a pamphlet they used to had when these shows were being licensed back in the day...

Harmony Gold also had dubs made of several others in this set including Little Women, Call of the Wild, Hashire Melos (retitled "An Olympic Fable: Run For Life") and Frankenstein.

I just picked up the Japanese VHS release from off of yahoo japan auctions. It was the only copy I have seen in YEARS of searching.

Ill post a review of the Japanese Version once it gets to me here in the USA. I want to say that the Japanese dub will hopefully sound better and the runtime of the film is approximately 2 minutes longer than the English dub!!!

Frankenstein is next on the hunt!

Excellent! Please let me know when you do. So many of this show's problems are the show itself, I can't imagine the Japanese version is THAT much better...

Ill post a scan of the VHS art once it gets to me (should be next week)....Ill try transferring it to dvd and maybe get a few clips up on youtube or something...
