No I got that as well, I'm mainly curious how people see others with tattoos. It's been my experience that there's two types of people who don't like tattoos, the type of person who separates the tattoos from the individual and is able to just ignore them or the type of person who ONLY sees the tattoos and instantly treats that person as if he/she IS the tattoo they dislike so much. If someone doesn't like tattoos that's fine with me I just think it's a shame that some people only see skin and assume there's nothing of value under it.

I tend to view people with extensive tattooing as being lower class, possibly more criminally inclined than those without them, as they are often a sign of rebellion from authority or peer pressure within shady groups. That's the cultural level. Aesthetically, they can occasionally look cool, but are typically garish and distracting from the owner's natural beauty. I have no interest in colorful or portrait style tattoos, but occasionally monotone, iconographic tattoos, geometric shapes, flowing scrollwork, stuff like that can look cool and accentuate the owner. It's a bit like make-up, a little eye liner or tasteful lipstick can enhance, but having clown make-up on is no helping no one.

So I'm in Japan right now and I saw this on the news yesterday, and they ran the picture of his backside on TV. Make of that what you will.

Can you imagine what would happen if anyone who posted naked pictures of themselves on the Internet got arrested? Ha. Somebody else pointed this out, but I think it has much more to do with his celebrity status than anything else (who doesn't love a celebrity in legal trouble), and also the tattoo-yazuka thing... shit's serious business over here.

Today's Japanese word is "Irezumi." Irezumi is different from traditional tattooing, as it uses multiple non-electrical needles rather than the use of a tattoo gun.

So Haruko, they can show his naked butt on TV, but on his website he can't be naked? What is this, Japan's Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction?

Are they going to arrest the people who put his ass on tv? Does their hypocrissy know no bounds?

You sound like you came out of the Leave It to Beaver household. I don't like tatoos either, but give me a break.

Yeah, there are way many more people who have tattoos now than did 10 or 20 years ago. Now tattoos don't feel like they're just meant for the rebel crowd or the "look at me" people.

If that were the case, Shin from Shin Chan wouldn't be able to do his dance at all. Then again he is a fictional character though.

This whole situation seems like it has been blow well out proportion though. It's one thing if he was flashing others and or anyone in particular. But since he isn't doing that, I don't see the big deal.

Is this the same Japan that produces some of the most violent, graphic and in some cases disturbing anime, manga, video games and literature? Not to forget the amount of H anime, games, manga they make as well.

That is some what confusing to some degree. Then again, it is Japan and confusing is part of the territory in some cases.

This is one of the reasons Japan is a crappy country. While I do have a lot of problems with my own country, I'm glad I live here compared to most of the world. Japan is a seriously messed up country.

What's the big deal with Yakuza tattoo? I've seen Yakuza movies, but they don't seem that offensive.

Like others, I don't see what's indecent about them. It's not even done sexually.

Because Yakuza are members of organized crime organizations that have wreaked havoc on Japanese society. Not saying that it's right people them to fear tattoos, but it stems from Yakuza members toting them. People are probably upset with anyone behaving in a way similar/unique to them.

When is Japan going to do away with this moronic censorship laws? Really, what's the point of censoring genitalia in pornography only available to adults???

That is one law I never understand why they made that for. If a country made a pornography and censored it, then what's point of making it if you're going to censored it. It's not pornography anymore if it get censored.

Well it is the law there and that is what separates legal porn from illegal porn, in Japan at least. Just like how the US has laws about what constitutes legal or illegal porn.
Calling another country's laws moronic is pretty moronic itself since you don't exist in that society in order to understand the basis of the laws.

Well, can you explain in a specific point including detail. Some of your point don't make any sense. From experience and knowing pornography around the world. I don't see any other country (beside Japan) that blur out the private part. As I said, what's the point of making porn if you're going to blur out the naughty part. I remember someone from another topic talking about Japanese importing Region 1 anime DVD and this person has also mention that uncensored hentai from USA get imported also. This would probably explain why Pink Pineapple won't let US license anymore hentai anime from them because of the people from Japan importing uncensored hentai (also could be hurting the sales in Japan) and anyone in Japan who have unblurred pornography/hentai face criminal charges because they violate Japan's obscenity law. Unless you have any article and/or research that support your point (research from cultural aspect, Sociological research or anything why Japan have a huge no-no to unblurred parts on porn/hentai), I don't really believe you. I'm a student who took sociology and I have read a lot of thing about Japan and the Japanese censorship/blurring the genital part doesn't make any sense to me.

Edit: BTW, I find Japan's law against uncensored porn/hentai stupid. USA has stupid law also like did you know:

In Alabama:
-The Arkansas River can rise no higher than to the Main Street bridge in Little Rock.
-A man can legally beat his wife, but not more than once a month.
-Alligators may not be kept in bathtubs. (WTF!!!) Shocked

In Texas:
-It is illegal for one to shoot a buffalo from the second story of a hotel.
-The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a formula for making beer at home.

In Arizona:
-It is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling (In Tombstone).
-In Tuscon, Women may not wear pants.

In Virginia

-Citizens must honk their horn while passing other cars.
-Children are not to go trick-or-treating on Halloween.
-It is illegal to tickle women.

Explain why some of thse stupid law exist and tell me how these thing are beneficial.
