The TV caps in the post above yours came from a French TV station, I'd imagine they're slightly toned down for US TV.

Well, Wakfu, to my knowledge, has never been shown on US television.

Though seeing the incredible amount of under-age fanservice in shows like Totally Spies! and Code Lyoko, maybe there's something about television made in French-speaking regions.

I'm not familiar with Wakfu myself, but apparently it's on Netflix in the US.

France and French-speaking regions have always been lax about sex related stuff, but I don't think Totally Spies! can be that bad, every submission ever made from the show has gotten a U from the BBFC.

I've not seen the show myself, but Warner Bros. butchered their Adventure Time releases over here in the UK for fear of getting a 12 certificate, episodes were heavily cut, some simply got dropped for DVD release, and they have seemingly abandoned the show after releasing it's second season, So Totally Spies! is apparently less inappropriate than that...

Ah, so Wakfu is on Netflix? Well, that has less strict content regulation than normal US television, and I'm guessing a show like Wakfu would have problems getting commercial sponsorship.

Totally Spies! is infamous for its fetishism. A suspiciously large amount of episodes have the villain-of-the-week with abilities that line up with fetishes, both popular (gender-bending, body swap, personality swap, shapeshifting, mind control, furry, feet, personality inversion, corruption, giant, clothing damage, age progression, age regression) and unpopular but still notable (expansion, muscular, tiny, clown, nerd, angel wings, cowgirl).

Everything is written in a way that seems innocently naïve to these fetishes, and it's always just played for strangeness. Any sexualization is indirect and downplayed, almost accidental. That may be why it managed to air pretty much anywhere unchanged from its source material.

I saw it a few times when I was younger, I was wondering what you were talking about. I guess it went straight over my head... Embarassed

That would also explain why it was always aimed squarely at teenagers in the UK, rather than being a children's show.

Nah, the fact that you didn't notice them at all when you were yougner shows how very downplayed it all was. You had to look for it to find it.

I saw large amounts of Totally Spies! when it was on Cartoon Network, and much of it flew above my head too. I then heard people talking about its fetishism as it was still airing, and it became impossible to see the show as anything innocent anymore when I continued to watch it.

Well France is another country that has a loli ban in place there was an article on the ANN about someone getting caught with it.

Most people would consider there to be a difference between not being politically correct and not allowing drawings of child pornography...

Wasn't talking about child pornography, but rather political correctness in our nanny state. Us older folks remember what life was like before everything became about saving the children.

What's wrong with the original ED? It looked "moe" at worst.
I just found it cute (in a generic way) and I'm not even a fan of moe or girls shows of this kind. ^^'

According to the BPO grievances, this is what's wrong with it (NSFW):

Is the NSFW there for sarcasm, or did I miss something? ^^'

Anyway I did read the article, but still can't see what's wrong with the ED. I guess bigots are everywhere. Razz

France is the very definition of nanny state, yet the French don't panic like the Americans do when they see a naked breast on tv or for that matter anything relating to sex. Short of showing full sexual intercourse on broadcast tv everything is fair game. For pete's sake there were prime time shows airing on french tv that would have been considered obscene for Americans not 1 or 2 years ago. 30 freaking years ago. Right before the 8 o'clock news in the evening you'd watch a nice girl strip tease and end up with only a tanga. Pure bliss to teenagers watching the comedy show. Laughing Take that puritanical Americans. Twisted Evil

The NSFW was for the screenshot of the unedited version of the ending.

I don't see anything "not safe for work" in the original ED either, that's why was asking.
