I’m just gonna chime in and say there’s a marked difference in that Rebuild is shaping up to be something ambitious and has merits from the start, whereas the Star Wars ST is an abomination from the get go.


These Japanese properties like EVA still have some degree of artistic integrity left: the main creator is still the same (Anno) and he takes years and years to make the movies due to lack of individual inspiration (although he should work with a little deadlines, sometimes spending 10 years to make something instead of 1 year can make it worse), while the Disney stuff is an obvious uncompromising attempt at milking cash from the franchise (and Disney executives are very explicit about it).
