Episode 9
So it turns out the Black Camellia really is a sword, which is not good news for Hayate, what with him being run through by it. Well that was the biggest part of the episode, along with the fact that Nagi is kidnapped, by a possible demon who might be Tsugumi's mother.
Apart from that we had the usual hijinks from the bad luck on Hayate, accidentilly seeing Hinagiku in small amount of clothes, Hayate running into a kind of romantic scene with glasses girl (forgot her name) by tring to return help her after a run in. Then the three idiots creating a scene, Hayate almost being shot by a cop that mistook him for a kidnapper who was assaulting girls, and he ended up losing it when he was an idiot telling his teacher too much. You would think Hayate would be careful with her by now, I was practically screaming that scene when he was telling her.

Episode 10
So I guess we found out what the apple may signify in the opening, along with passing by where this season started. Being stabbed by the sword did not actually kill Hayate, but apparently "grants eternity", it seems to have given Hayate a complete personality change. Hayate does not seem to care at all for anyone, quiting from being Nagi's butler without a second thought. The apple seems to symbolize Hayate, Nagi holds it in her hands, she smiles from it but perhaps takes it for granted, and it then dissapears, what happens next so far can only be guessed.
Gorilla-san , still sad situation. Funny how I laughed again at the silly scene with Nagi before remembering how sad it was.

I am not digging the Hayate personality change thing. I can't wait until he snaps back to normal.

It does give Nagi the opportunity to discover what is really important to her. Anyway, I don't think that is Hayate that they are dealing with; something in the clock has possessed him.
I have to wonder -- what is it he is "busy" doing?
Is it just me or does this season have something of a dark tinge to it that wasn't there in prior episodes? Sure they are playing it for laughs but there seems to be something heavy about it. It is like that odd BDSM/nudity that shows up in the ending credits. Out of place somehow -- but not?
Last point: it's fun to hear the Japanese VAs with their English lines.

Big possible plot hole, Nagi said that Hayate could not speak English, but Hayate clearly spoke it in the recent episode. Well it is not like characters have not been possessed before in the series, their teacher once sold off her own body to an evil spirit with the "promise" of money.
Also forgot to mention that Isumi was wearing the same type of mask that her great grandmother did.

@ HaruhiToy - yes, there is definitely a darker tinge to this series compared to the previous two. I'm not really enjoying that aspect, to be honest. Even sweet Izumi seems meaner. That's just weird.

Episode 11.
An awful lot happened here, and I guess some of it bears on that "darker" aspect we were talking about. We have known from the start that Nagi's parents had died, but until now that subject hadn't been really dealt with, much less shown in illustration.
It is not a bad thing -- just different. This feels like a "big screen" version of HTCB.
It seems that the naked barbed wire girl has a role, but did she (Ruka) ever get introduced before? Is that one of the things that happened between this season and the last?

This anime done yet? Can any later seasons go back to being entertaining, please? This arc sucks, trying to even smidgen serious in Hayate without some underlying black humor doesn't work. No Tama, no Wakamoto, ugly designs, utter lack of effective comedy or sympathy... This series is just...awful. I don't care if the MAWNGUH did this, there's just no charm or intrigue to latch onto here.

Episode 11
So Nagi figured out the situation, I only really figured that her father was in Hayate's body a moment after she mentioned that it swaps souls, there has been foreshadowing, it does make some earlier scenes foreshadowing now. And it all came together when I remembered that she was so protective of the watch, Hayate was in it. Well there is a pretty big story element in that Nagi got to talk to her father for a little bit, does not seem to be the nicest guy in the world, but he did love Nagi's mother; he took the watch to get his wedding ring back.
As for the singer bit, I noticed that she was singing the opening song of the movie, I was not sure what it was at first so I had to stop the video and track it down, it was "Bokura, Kakeyuku Sora e". I do not have too much of an issue with this season, a lot of the annoyance at change had been burned with the movie, but I do think any further projects should require proper introductions of characters, and probably some Athena. The last bit could work as the Black Camellia has some sort of connection to her.

She's been a manga character for about two years. For better or for worse this season does pretty much assume viewers are caught up on the manga.

Looking back the anime story gave no clues that would help a view figure out what Nagi related. I can only conclude that we weren't meant to.
There are a number of things I don't like about this season but one good thing to come out of it is Nagi's character has more to it. Her goofball routine is fun but it is pretty much what it was before, but her serious side is more serious. I rather like it when she takes charge.
Can an SR-71 Blackbird actually fly from Tokyo to Vegas in 3 hours?
