AMB takes the top spot? That is a sign of the level of epic the manga has reached. :D

This looks like the list I expected. Ancient Magus Bride is a fantastic manga - one of my favourite currently ongoing - and the anime has all the right things going for it.

Other than that, Blood Blockade Battlefront's sequel, Food Wars' sequel and Gintama's sequel were also expected to be pretty high up there (as they stem from extremely strong prior seasons).

In fact, this season, including the continuations of Welcome to the Ballroom, Altair and Fate Apocrypha, looks like it'll be pretty awesome overall!

I wonder would this list be different if the Index S3 rumor is true.

I am very excited for the coming season. I hope CR gets all my favorites. Hozuki no Reitetsu is one that I have been hoping would come back, and I am super excited for all of the top 4 and Sangatsu no Lion as well.
Circumstances have been against me with the current season, as a number of shows I would have loved to watch are on Amazon Anime Strike or, as in one notable case, being held until 2018 by Netflix. HOPEFULLY I will have better luck in the future.

If it is true, it wouldn't be airing this season. We would have heard about it by now.

It almost feels like cheating to say my most anticipated show is Magus Bride, as I (and likely a number of others) have already seen three episodes.

Like I mentioned in The List thread, ANN's list makes a lot of sense. The only weird thing to me is Love Live! Sunshine!! S2 not being in the top 5. Fall is shaping up like a strong season; hopefully it delivers.

I don't think it would be in the top 10 because this show does not seem to be that popular in R1. If it was more Railgun, it might crack the top 10.

Hozuki no Reitetsu

Considering Sentai licensed the first season, I expect it to stream on Anime Strike.

Like others before me who share similar thoughts, this Fall is looking really stacked with good stuff. I personally am very much looking forward to The Ancient Magus' Bride, Kino's Journey, and Girls' Last Tour as all three are looking to be right up my alley in terms of anime and I'm very excited for the season to start.

I voted for Ancient Magus Bride, BBB&B, and Black Clover. Looks like I wasn't too far from the consensus!

Hm, I'm a little surprised Ancient Magus's Bride took the top spot, since ANN's userbase has a history of being disgusted by shows about older men being in a relationship with a younger girl.

The OVAs were harmless enough, though.

I was very taken by the OVA, so I voted for it.

I can’t place much stock in these polls. Yuri on Ice barely cracked the top 20 in Japan AND abroad last year for most anticipated series of Fall 2016 and now it’s IIRC the fourth best-selling anime of all time.

Anticipation clearly doesn’t equate to how a series actually does. It can even backfire, since I believe Ballroom e Youkoso was highly anticipated and now it’s a massive flop because it disappointed.

To be fair, the "older man" in question doesn't even resemble a human. Shallow as it sounds, I think how it looks is what matters most to people. Yato from Noragami is technically a centuries-old god but he looks 17-20, so his romance with a 14-15 year old was one of the most popular ships during the second season's runtime.

Certainly things don't always pan out and some things come out of nowhere and become popular. I don't know if Yuri on Ice is the best example to point to, for this site at least, considering it was the fourth most anticipated show a year ago on this site. In fact, the top 4 most anticipated shows of that season (Haikyuu 3, Natsume 5, Sound Euphonium 2, and Yuri on Ice) were also the top 4 ranked shows cumulatively of that season as well, in precisely the same order. It usually isn't that precise, but we aren't totally unable to predict what we will like.

Haven't read the manga, but saw the limited screening for the first four episodes and it seems closer to " Natsume Book of Friends meets Snow White with Red Hair and took place in England with British/Western fairy tale creatures" sort of vibe. Not as squicky as it appears but I'm not sure how serious the cow head mage was about marriage.
AMB, BBB:B, Gintama, Food Wars, Kino's Journey, March comes like a Lion, and the Girls Last Tour are my top picks so I'm looking forward to the next season.
