Is there anywhere for those of us stuck on this side of the pond to get this kind of stuff. They always have these nifty things from Lawson's or somewhere else and I can't get them.

I know there are communities (like on twitter and I guess probably some websites) where people living in Japan will buy things on your behalf and send them to you if you pay for shipping and the item cost. (Though I am not sure if some PMMM cookies are worth that fee).

The theme is just so perfect. Hate that Kyubey looks good on like 95% of merchandise, would go broke collecting them all.

...Am I the only person who dislikes Madoka? Because every person I run to seems to put that anime on a pedestal. I mean one, it ruined the magical girl franchise to the point where the only light and fluffy modern magical girl anime are either aimed towards little girls, or Prism Illya.

It's often stated that Madoka Magica is about being dark and crushing cute girls but that is a misinterpretation I think. In my opinion the show put the classic ideals of Magical Girl Anime to the test and confronted the optimistic, maybe naive worldview of it's protaginists with realistic consequences.

But it didn't take the easy way out by just mindlessly punishing the girls for their believes. The show respected it's characters worldviews. It did offer hope at the end despite all the suffering that the girls went through. It didn't say: "Life is unfair. Deal with it!", it said: "Life is unfair. Here is a way to deal with it!" And that is a very powerful message and the reason why so many people hold the show in such high regard.

Yes, many tried to copy it and failed horribly, creating cynical grimdark trash that is only grimdark for the sake of being grimdark. But that's not Madoka Magicas fault. I think it stays very true to the basic idea of the genre.

Unfortunately, when somebody does a dark show right, it tends to get a thousand imitators that have no idea what to do and just copy the idea of being dark. I'm of the opinion that dark is rarely done well, so it sticks out more when it is; lighter, fluffier shows, which stand out less, end up suffering because everybody's trying to be the next Madoka.

However, all things come to an end, so there should probably be an uptick in lighter shows soon(we do have Mahou Shoujo Nante Mou Ii Desukara, if that means something).
