It's interesting. But why set this up as a dialogue? If you're going to be exchanging giant paragraphs at a time, you might as well make it a normal article.
"starting with a Jewish mage [expletive] over the Nazis, stealing the Grail"
Is Darnic really Jewish? I don't remember that coming up at all. It is true that at least one of them uses Kabbalah magecraft, but I figured that would be Roche since he's obsessed with Golems.

Why not? It's a fun format and it makes all the gifs and screenshots feel like they genuinely belong there.

If they didn't "feel genuine" in the first place, then why add them? And I thought a dialogue is supposed to flow evenly between the speakers, but I guess that's just me.

Speaking as one, I don't think all or most F/GO users aren't interested in the the rules/lore of the Fate universe, though I don't deny waifu/husbando collection is a significant part of the appeal of the game. I've be interested enough to pay attention to the story of the game at least.
While I'm on the topic of GO and Apocrypha, I reckon I wasn't the only one who thought about the various match ups in terms of GO's class affinities e.g. "Well of course you'd use Archer against Saber"
Regarding the fight animation/choreography, I'd say at least the highlights are as good or better than ufotable's TV productions. There is some really phenomenal stuff there, and I'd say I don't mind this not being animated by ufotable, aside from A-1's frequently ill advised scheduling.
Also, Steve knows what's up re: Mordred's midriff (Mordriff?)

They weren't added. The format is literally a chat transcript. It's a minimally edited version of the actual conversation that was held between two people, with pictures and jokes and stuff added in real-time.

I’m always surprised at how good the animation is especially considering this is an A1 production. Their animation usually ranges from average to downright cringey. So it’s nice to see that the action is at least comparable to Ufotable.
I think the best qualities of Apocrypha is its willingness to commit itself to being a series that’s primarily battle heavily while never shying away from giving us at least a few decent character-driven scenes per episode. There’s at least some willingness to develop them and make us appreciate their presence.

Why in the hell are people saying that Urobuchi is a better writer than Nasu? Like seriously I know that Nasu has a very specific way of writting but his a god compared to Urobuchi.
Urobuchi just likes that stuff dark and edgy and dumbed down the phisolophical dilemas in Fate, while Nasu's writting is for inteligent people and he has beautifully and cleverly written many great works - and two best examples being Fate/Series (all 3 routes of FSN and hollow ataraxia) and Kara no Kyoukai (you can't tell me that that wasn't a masterpiece!!!)

I thought Granblue Fantasy had some nicely animated fights, though not to the same extent as Apocrypha. Their current Blend-S has a few nice bits of character animation as with their prior work, Working, and animation was very much not among the issues with Eromanga. The staff working on a project is usually more important than the studio, and that is doubly true for the heavily freelance A-1 pictures, though the studio is important for things like planning and any issues that come from that, as is too often the case with A-1 as I alluded to earlier.

I always find it interesting how people seem to prefer either Nasu or Urobuchi, since I think they're both great writers. Their styles and execution are drastically different, but they have surprisingly similar priorities. Both like to use their characters to advance some sort of larger philosophical idea or theme, even if they go about it differently. They're pretty self-indulgent about it, but I've always found both to be interesting enough that I don't care. It's just interesting to see so much polarization about them. I like Nasu's style a bit more, but they're both some of the best writers working in anime right now.

I will concede that Kara no Kyoukai was a masterpiece, but at least from what I've seen of Fate anime, Fate/Zero was the superior story. If I had to compare Zero against /Stay Night in as fair a comparison as I can, lets look at Ufotable's versions.
Fate/Zero had outstanding battle choreography, and made every encounter feel like life or death. Each character was interesting and had either enough dialogue or action to make their presence meaningful in the story. As well, its stand out characters were all complex and incredibly well-developed. For example, Iskandar's confidence in his way of the king, his goofy lightheartedness, and his surprisingly deep wisdom made him seem like a true, full-fledged hero of history. It was also a brilliant stroke of writing to pair him with his more inexperienced master, who went from treating him like a servant to respecting him, learning from him, and growing as a person because of him. This is just one example of characters dynamics in an already highly-dynamic cast too.
Fate/Stay Night on the other hand, had a few good action scenes, but they didn't always make sense. Shirou for starters, should never have been able to fight Archer like that since Shirou is barely a mage and Archer was a powerful servant. As well, Saber getting wrecked by Caster's master was (I'm just gonna say it) incredibly dumb. Saber is supposed to be one of the strongest in the strongest class of hero, yet she couldn't handle fighting some human? Also to go on a tangent, Shirou stays friends with Shinji despite Shinji being a complete, irredeemable ass to him the entire time. To top it all off, Kirei gets killed without doing anything of note in the story like he was fodder when we saw him kicking ass in Fate/Zero. For him to just get stabbed by Lancer like he was daydreaming and didn't notice a spear heading for his heart was incredibly frustrating to watch, especially when he used to be so well-written.
I could go on honestly, but whatever Fate/Stay Night was in anime form was complete garbage in my opinion. Fate/Zero was such an accomplishment in every way that I'm frankly shocked to see so many people who don't like it as a part of the Fate series on some of these forums.

It's interesting, most of the discourse surrounding Apocrypha from those watching it so far, those that would probably consider themselves "Fate Fans", has been generally negative toward this show, but I've kind of held off on making any pre-judgements on the show myself because I honestly don't trust most of that fandom. And the complaints seem to be the kinds of things I don't care about anyway. It's nice to see a more positive take on the series. The ANNCast on Fate was also encouraging. I'll look forward to this. Not sure if I'll wait till part 2 is out or not, but I think this'll be fun. I love A-1s digital aesthetic take on the series here, and wouldn't mind seeing them handle more of the franchise as well. Looking forward to SHAFT's adaptation too. Also notable is that the people who don't like Apocrypha tend to be the same kind of people who don't appreciate this kind of expressive webgen animation. I don't really get along with those types of people...

You haven't been paying attention if you think Urobuchi writes 'dark and edgy'. Most of his stuff is incredibly optimistic and empowering.

I'll not say if one or another is better or worse, because all depends of the what the person is looking for in Fate universe.
But Fate/Zero as part of the Fate/stay night series is in the same position as Solo: A Star Wars Story in the Star Wars series.
Is a look of what happened before the main story.
Is prequel but not part of the main story. But unlike other prequels, Fate/Zero is a very good one.
About Fate/Apocrypha. I can't say i enjoy it as much as other Fate universe series.
Too many characters, too much action and not enough development of what makes the Fate series great, character developments, interaction between characters and world construction. Is too much focus in the battles and not enough focus on interaction between the characters outside the battles.
Even the most recent animes from Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya series can be better than Fate/Apocrypha in those parts.

To be honest the positive reception kinda suprises me. I didn't expect people were so accepting of Apocryphas approach to just drop exposition and the lore behind it for the most part. While I agree that it does remain fun enough, mostly thanks to a bunch of likable characters, I am a little disappointed as someone who actually really enjoyed Fates mix of more sophisticated elements and selfindulgent tendencies. And while I have not read Apocrypha I always get this feeling that there must be more to this, or rather there has to for this to be proper Fate, in the Novels, be it character depth, their origins and backstory, lore or little philosophical ramblings.
Also calling Nasu a weak author is kinda unfair if you ask me, at least if you are basing it on the previous adaptions of the Fate VN, which are either plain bad, you know which one, or rather focused on digital effects action and thrill, not unlike Apocrypha is doing actually, while adapting the parts of the Novel which are comparatively lame. Honestly it took me roughly half a year to suffer through Fate and UBW, but Heavens Feel I completed in a matter of days. And assesing Nasus skills in writing more thematic complex stuff by those only is kinda unwarranted and doesnt do him justice. Not even mentioning his other works beside Fate.
The statement that Urobuchi ist the better author I will not argue though, considering he is pretty much my favorite author...^^

Haha, you just haven't read his older stuff like Saya no Uta or Kikokugai. While I do agree that it has an optimistic edge to it, sometimes its just terrifyingly nihilistic Love that shit.

Mhh, I consider myself a Fate Fan* and so far (ep. 19) I have liked what I have seen. It is different from everything else I have seen animated in the franchise, which I consider a plus. The only negatives I can think of is that the romanian towns feel too generic, but maybe small towns lack any distinguishing features (I was spoiled by Neo Venezia).
*I have not read the novels or played the visual novels, so I think many people would not consider me a true fan.
