Ah, the guy that made Freddy vs. Jason Twisted Evil Wow, if it's set in the 1940's, then that will give us some views of how the Japanese were struggling during the first few years of the occupation.

I just want to hear Carl and Brian's thoughts on this one. Cool

fighter: He also directed Bride with White Hair, Bride of Chucky, and the upcoming Fearless. But he got booted off of Snakes on a Plane. Sad

Awesome. Just plain awesome. This is the guy who also directed "Formula 51" with Sam Jackson, a classic indeed. This no doubt could be a good adaptation.

Nope, brand new movie.

Not one of those 10 year old asian movies re-packaged and re-released as "new" in North America.

It's old in the sense that it's been out for over a year in Asia.

I think there's alot of potential with the setting.

The original OAV did a great job of equating Western Colonization with Vampirism in terms of its effect on Eastern cultures.

If I'm not mistaken, the OAV implies that Saaya was turned into a vampire during the late 18th century in China, when it was occupied by the British. I think this was revealed in the black and white photograph at the end, although I might also be thinking of the one shot Manga that was released a while back.

The OAV itself took place in a US military base that was used to send planes to bomb Vietnam.

With all that in mind it would be great to see how these themes are handled in the context of the US occupation of Japan.

Also, i hope the designer he is in talks with is Katsuya Terada, because his designs for Blood were perfect. I think the man's a genius. Plus he's had a good ammount of experience designing monsters for live action (Godzilla Final Wars, Cutie Honey, Hellboy etc).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this flick.

I think this is going to be cool. It's my favorite movie. I just hope they don't try to change too much, so the substance of the original doesn't get washed out. I hope they can release it around Halloween in the near future; I think it would do well in that time period. I never knew that the base that they used in the movie (Yakota) was that old, since I had a friend that lived on that base back in the early 90's. I just hope they don't mess things up.
