I'm interested in hearing Tocker's interpretation of Freeza.

Ocean Group's been off the anime radar for a while. What the hell happened to them? Is this the only anime they've done in the past 3 years (besides InuYasha: TFA and Black Lagoon: RBT).
Honestly, I hope anime companies start using Ocean Group again. I miss Scott McNeil and Brad Swaile's performances. And while I do prefer FUNimation's dub of DB, it's nice to see Ocean back. |

Yeah, you know, I'll believe it when I see it... er, hear it, I guess.
Meanwhile, at this juncture, it's absolutely pointless. The Funimation dub has already been broadcast in Canada, it's the English dub that comes with the DVDs and Blu-Rays, and it's of a pretty good quality. Are we just going to have Ocean dubbing things other people already dubbed well from now on? Anything else Ocean wants to redub needlessly? Darker than Black, maybe? Outlaw Star? Or maybe they'll do their own new Sailor Moon dub to compete with Viz/Studiopolis'. I have a fondness for certain VAs and their roles, like Scott McNeil's Piccolo, but at this point who is this product really for? |

The UK has no DVD/Blu ray release of Kai so it could be released there. They be able to broadcast it in Singapore or other parts of Asia. They might also choose to stream it for fre or put it up on youtube like Future Card Buddyfight. |

The purpose of this dub is due to the Canadian broadcasting that require a certain amount of content on television be distinctly Canadian. Having licensed in Canada with a Canadian dub essentially seals that deal.

I understand that, but it seems a little too late in coming at this point. The Funimation dub is pretty well established, so I wonder if audiences are even receptive to the Ocean voices anymore. |

Apparently Richard Ian Cox (voice of Inuyasha) is the new Goku in this dub.
http://dragonblogz.com/dragon-ball-kai-ocean-dub-richard-ian-cox-is-goku/ Umm...okay. This ought to be interesting. |

'Interesting' is an understatement. As unusual as the choice is, I'm actually looking forward to it. |

The voice of Inuyasha, a dog demon, playing a warrior who also the form of a tailed ape? Interesting.

While that's often true, I don't really think that's the case. I'll believe it when I see any kind of interest expressed by YTV, Teletoon, or the like in broadcasting it on Canadian TV. I suspect this has less to do with Canada specifically and more to do with international broadcast in general. Kind of a use-it-or-lose-it for Ocean Group and their bizarre outside-the-USA dubbing rights arrangement which I think involves AB Groupe or some other European interest with worldwide-outside-USA-and-Asia rights. |
