Nissin Asks Japanese Customers Which Foreign Cup Noodle Brand They Want to Sample
posted on by Eric Stimson
Though they are a Japanese invention, instant noodles have spread around the world and are a staple of diets for busy people everywhere. Many of these flavors imitate local cuisine and are unknown to Japanese consumers. In order for its home customer base to get a taste of some of these soup broths, instant noodle producer Nissin is launching a campaign to celebrate its 45th anniversary by polling Japanese customers on which foreign cup noodle brand they'd like sold in Japan.
The choices:
Five-Spice Beef from mainland China
Spicy Beef from mainland China, which uses garlic, ginger, chili pepper, and Sichuan pepper
Spicy Seafood from Hong Kong, which also includes pork and kimchi flavors
XO Sauce Seafood from Hong Kong, which uses a popular sauce made from dried seafood, chili peppers, onions and garlic
Tom Yum Shrimp Sabb from Thailand, which is even spicier than the version sold in Japan
Moo Manao from Thailand, based on a lime-heavy pork salad
Tom Yam Seafood from Singapore, which uses chili, lemongrass, and lemon
Chilli Crab from Singapore, which includes tomato, chili pepper, and oyster sauce flavors
Batchoy from the Philippines, based on a pork organ & noodle soup
Bulalo from the Philippines, based on a beef soup cooked with fish sauce and calamondin (a citrus fruit)
Rasa Sop Buntut Klasik from Indonesia, based on oxtail soup
Rasa Gulai Ayam Melayu from Indonesia, based on a coconut milk/chicken curry
Mazedaar Masala from India, which uses masala spice mix (chili, coriander, turmeric, etc.)
Veggi Manchow from India, based on a soy sauce, garlic, ginger, chili pepper, green onion and carrot soup
Wasabi from Germany
Champignons (mushrooms) from Germany, based on a European-style onion and mushroom soup
Chicken from the USA
Camaron Picante (spicy shrimp) from Mexico
Galinha Caipira from Brazil, which uses chicken, garlic, celery, and tomato flavors
Costela com Molho Churrasco from Brazil, based on barbequed beef ribs
Cast your vote on Nissin's official site. The election is open until May 31. The winner will be announced on September 12 and sold in November as part of the Cup Noodle BIG line.
Nissin's previous campaign involved humorous pop art-style photos. If you enjoy pretty women drinking spicy soup, perhaps this campaign will be of more interest.
