The Queen of England's Tailors Make Ultimate Char Cosplay

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Impeccable British tailors Dege & Skinner, the appointed tailors for The Queen of England and part of the Savile Row Bespoke Association used their eye for design and detail to create the ultimate Char costume.

The recreated suit jacket and trousers was created from the same fabric used in British guard's uniforms, and are limited to only three suits. Each suit costs a whopping 864,000 yen (US$8,000). The uniform was created specifically for the Mobile Suit Gundam x ISETAN WELCOME TO ZEON exhibition that opens at the Isetan Shinjuku department store on April 25.

Char's suit isn't the only one Dege & Skinner designed for the exhibition. They also recreated Char's white suit with purple Oxford shirt from Gundam Build Fighters. That suit costs 183,600 yen (US$1,700).

The exhibition takes place during Japan's Golden Week holidays. Shoppers can enjoy loudspeaker recordings of Gihren Zabi (voice actor Banjō Ginga) and browse limited edition merchandise. A 1/144-scale Char-Only Zaku II figure with a limited edition color scheme is available for purchase for 2,700 yen (US$25).

Other high-end items include a pair of Gihren Zabi dress shoes by British brand Tricker's for 118,800 yen (US$1,760). The store will also sell a red briefcase (75,600 yen/US$700), a men's bag (19,440 yen/US$181), coin pouch (9,720/US$90), and dishware. A themed restaurant will also serve up Zeon-themed dishes.

Char is currently the curry star over at The Curry House CoCo Ichibanya (CoCoICHI) restaurant chain. The campaign will run from April 17 to May 31. Guests can use their receipts that have a total of at least 900 yen (about US$8) to enter for a chance to win exclusive prizes.
