Kakuriyo Yadomeshi Anime's New Video Unveils More Cast, April 2 Debut

The official website for the television anime of writer Midori Yūma and illustrator Laruha's Kakuriyo Yadomeshi (Afterlife Inn Cooking) light novels began streaming the second promotional video on Thursday. The video revealed more cast members and the April 2 premiere.
The newly announced cast members are from Tenshinya's rival inn Orioya:
- Kaito Ishikawa as Ranmaru, Orioya's guardian dog
- Takuma Terashima as Hatori, an Orioya staffer
- Daisuke Hirakawa as Tokihiko at the inn's baths
The anime will premiere on Monday, April 2 at 10:30 p.m. on the Tokyo MX channel, and it will then run on KBS Kyoto, BS Fuji, and AT-X. On March 31 and April 1, storefront monitors at participating Animate stores nationwide will screen the first episode along with exclusive special comment videos from the main cast and theme song artists. While supplies last, the stores will offer Chibi ema (prayer tablet) stickers and cards of Nao Tōyama and Manami Numakura.

Yoshiko Okuda (animation director for The Perfect Insider, Casshern Sins) is directing the anime at GONZO. Tomoko Konparu (Utano☆Princesama Legend Star, Kimi ni Todoke) is in charge of series composition, and Youko Satou (Saiyuki Reload Blast, Dog & Scissors) is designing the characters. Takurō Iga (Fuuka, Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA) is composing the music, and Flying Dog is handling the music production. Tōyama is performing the opening theme song "Tō no Manimani," and Manami Numakura is performing the ending theme song "Sai -color-."
The series centers on a female college student named Aoi, who inherited the ability to see spirits from her late grandfather. Aoi prides herself on her cooking. One day she's feeding some agricultural spirits when suddenly a god and the master of the "Tenshinya" (Heavenly Inn) appears and takes Aoi away. He says that due to her grandfather's debts, she must become his bride. Aoi hates this idea and instead declares that she will pay back her grandfather's debt by working at the Tenshinya.
The anime will premiere in April on Tokyo MX, BS Fuji, and other networks. The anime will have a stage event at AnimeJapan 2018. In addition, the anime will have an advance screening event at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater on March 16, and the main cast members will appear.
Yūma launched the novel series in Kadokawa's Fujimi L Bunko imprint in 2015, and Kadokawa published the seventh novel last November. The eighth volume will ship on April 13. As of October, the series has more than 340,000 copies in print.
Wako Ioka is drawing a manga adaptation in Kadokawa's B's-LOG COMIC magazine, and the manga's third volume shipped last November. The fourth volume will ship on March 31.
