Oh my god, did I just say that. |
You did and I agree.

Provided they have booster seats.

Actually, Tom Cruise was the only actor in Top Gun who met the United States Navy's height requirements for combat aviators. For comparison, Anthony Edwards is 6'2", and he could barely fit in the back seat of an F-14. Maybe that's why Goose banged his head on the canopy when he ejected.

Why would people automatically assume Tom Cruise will be playing Fukai Rei? He could well be in for Bukhar which would actually be a better fit.
And in case any of you advance the argument Tom Cruise = main starring role, consider Lestat, Interview with the Vampire.

Is the new movie that's about to come out really "All You Need is Kill" under a different title, or is AYNIK still in production?
I'm definitely not a Cruise fan, but All You Need is Kill sounds interesting despite his involvement.

Jets and gay subtext. Top Gun and Yukikaze have both in spades.

I do not remember Top Gun very well, but I have recently watched the Yukikaze anime and read the first novel and did not notice any gay subtext in either.

I can't wait for this!
Along with the live action Robotech, Cowboy Bebop, Battle Angel Alita, and Mai the Psychic Girl movies!
Did someone just seriously spoiler tag Goose dying in Top Gun? Do people spoiler tag Darth Vader being Luke's father as well? haha.

What they tagged was not as much of a spoiler as what you did not tag.
People reading an anime forum should not have to worry about spoilers for a Hollywood movie.

I'm really impressed tom Cruise is taking the risk to be in 2 films based on manga. Though, no matter what, I'll always watch a tom cruise film.

If your cultural experience is so myopic that you don't know Goose dies in Top Gun then the only person you have to blame is yourself. This has been a cultural reference in countless films and TV shows for nearly 30 years. Everyone else isn't responsible for the fact that you don't watch movies or apparently pay attention to anything other than anime.

New people are being born all of the time.
No matter how long a movie has been around and how much it has been talked about there will always be people who have not yet seen it and do not know, or want to know, what happened.
Trying to avoid spoiling things for people is just simple common courtesy.

Mostly it just stops people from sharing common experiences in a meaningful or interesting way because we all apparently have to tiptoe around those of you who have decided that the worst thing in the world is learning a plot twist from an old movie you had no interest in seeing in the first place.
We're not your babysitter.
