Congratulations to the winner! I just wonder where he or she will store the games now.

Oh my, that's one impressive library. It makes me miss the days when we simply had to have the disc and start playing fully without much hassle like manage psn account, dlc, and the one I hate most is upgrading firmware every now and then.

While I was in Japan, I bought a used Biohazard (Resident Evil) 1 & 2 PlayStation game for ¥105 each.
I also bought a used Final Fantasy VII for ¥250.

That's one big dem collection of old-school games playable on an old-school console adequate enough for older players to travel in memory lane.

you either meant 3000000 yen or 244,170 USD.
Guessing it was 3000000 yen as 200k USD seems like a lot LOL

You don't have to manage the account to play a game or need the DLC, hell you don't even have to upgrade the system to play the game unless you like playing online or like collecting trophies
Mandatory installs on the other hand.

That's a really massive library of titles the PlayStation1 has! I hope the winner has enough room in his home to store them somewhere.

You kind of you do though. Like 70% of games now are focused on MP and a lot of single player games are so buggy that you need to patch pretty shortly after release.
I love how the video started with RIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER
Just watching these games makes me tear up a little. I miss when developers made games to be FUN. Now they're all focused on making games be competitive rather than fun.

Whoa, that's some auction. I bet he's got some good stuff.
I'm afraid that when the time comes to clean out my collection, my family wouldn't know what the hell what to do with it. They'll just go through it and realize that I was a weirdo.

Well, that's nice, although a good number of the "famous" PSOnes in the US have since been upgraded for PS3 Network.
(Yes, even the crappy movie-tie-in 90's Disney ones.)
It's not like I'd pay $300,000 for an actual disk of FFVII, as much as the sentimentality sounds attractive.

Ah, okay, so there's a video that demonstrates a lot of the games. I had a little thought in the back of my head that suspected there may have been many, many copies of the same game.
My experience with receiving donations is that every now and then, we'd receive overstock from a business that got WAY too much of some particular thing and couldnt get rid of them even for free, and we'd wind up with literally thousands of copies of the same DVD, phone case, music CD, book, shoe brushes, or some other thing. So my mind went to that for a while reading about a collection of PS1 games that large, that it might have come from a retailer rather than a consumer.

Reminds me of the guy who sold his entire NES collection a few years back in the States.

You mean just like console games that were produced before the advent of downloadable patches?
