Hint #1: This quote speaks to one of the underlying themes of the whole series but has little directly to do with the female protagonist's current crisis, for which monkeys are to blame.

Hint #2: The female protagonists and her (technically speaking) subordinates legally have job titles that, in most other settings, would be highly illegal.

Hint #3: In execution in this spacefaring setting, that job can involve anything from transporting goods or people to escort duty to putting on shows for luxury liners to even hunting down a supposed ghost ship.

I got this!
This is the opening narration of episode 14 of Bodacious Space Pirates.

Correct!
Honestly, I could use the opening narration for about half of the episodes as quotes, as they can be remarkably philosophical.

I have to watch that show, and that quote reminded me of that and solidified my conviction. Taking turn, dub:
"Frankly, ‘normal combat’ is a bit of an oxymoron: combat isn’t normal, it’s abnormal."

Somewhat ironically, the speaker is a tank.

Hint 2: the tank pals around with a swordslinger.

I knew the speaker and series for certain even without the first clue, but I'm not remembering where in the series it comes up. Perhaps the next clue could address that?

Wow, figured it'd at least need the first hint. The line is very 'in character' for who says it though.
More context:
Hint 3:the line is said in response to a statement by the airplane that's carrying the tank in its hold, with the intention of dropping it off into battle

That's one of my favorite series of the past decade, one that I've quoted from myself a few times before and rewatch at least once per year, so there's no way that I wouldn't immediately recognize a quote from it.
This is Bogey speaking in response to said airplane AI, with Paife and Honoka present, as they're moving towards the assault on Rona Fauna's stronghold in a late episode of The Third: The Girl With the Blue Eye.

You got it!
I'd had that quote ready to use for a while, and it's been a while since I've seen that series, I think I'm due for a rewatch myself, since I loved it as well and it'd probably be pretty fresh by now to see it again.

I knew the series from hint #1 but I also haven't seen it in a long time so I needed more detailed context hints.

New quote, from the subs:
Character A: "Damn! What is wrong with your family? Not only did they not respect me, they actually turned me into their plaything! I make other people my toys! I don't want to be a toy myself!"
Character B (thinking): Heh. That's an awful thing to say. . ."
