it was totally between 82 and 111 for me. i really had a hard time choosing, but in the end i went with 111.

um, yeah, either 14 has a ton of friends (which is always a possibility) or someone is rigging this. just refresh the page a couple of times and watch its vote count keep climbing. -- jero /intraweb4tehwin! |

Dude man I am totally freaking out. I made my vote and was checking out the voting results, and saw that #14 was at the top. Huh, I thought. Then, I hit the refresh button, and #14 had 3 more votes. I hit refresh again, it had 5 more votes. Refresh, 10 more votes. I waited a couple of minutes before refreshing again, and it had 60 more votes! Let me go check one more time... Now it has 20 more votes! This is insane! Maybe it's just me? I think it's just me.
After years of lurking I registered with this board just so I could say that. Isn't that something? ... Now it's past 200! |

Yea not only is it climbing but I dare say there are alot of better entries than 14 . I am not trying to rip on the artist its just so averge.

I hate to further the arguement, but I think 14's getting a vote every 5 seconds. I'd hate to see this contest fail, but I'd rather re-vote for 11 (who now has 3. Yay!) than allow someone to mess with the system.
And there are a couple other really similar sets of entries (ie 144 and 145, which aren't half-bad, btw), but they aren't getting as much pub as 14. Boy, will this server be looked over. |

I think I know how it's being done. I voted for an entry and on a whim I deleted my cookies and my history. The link at the bottom that said I already voted was gone...you might want to check the IP address for those votes....

This is just conjecture, for all I know, 14 has made freinds with Slashdot and they're showing their support. But if that isn't so, here's how it's done. I am assuming the vote system either puts a cookie on a computer or some sort of "tag" that says you voted. That's why if you go back and vote it says you'll have your vote changed. Now, if you remove that tag that says you voted, then the computer thinks "Oh, new computer, new reader. I'll let them vote". Voila! Keep clearing your cache, keep clearing your cache and you have unlimited votes, get 3 freinds at once to do it and you've got a whole vote farm going. I'd suggest one of the staff to pick a entry and try it, and see what the results are. Damn, took just a second too long to post....

...Somehow, I don't think you should actually say that. People might get ideas--particularly people who are cleverer than whatever 12-year-old "leet haxor wannabe" did #14. edit||*slap!* nevermind, as ANN has decided to do the IP address count thingy... *shuts up* |
