I dont care what anyone says, but this is good news. It may not be the best anime out there but its exciting and very entertaining to watch.

Don't get me wrong, it's good. I always liked the concept (up to the elf arc), and I'm glad they're bringing guns into the mix. I just wish they'd focus on someone else besides one flipping character. I mean, he should be done by now.
Even Avatar chose to refocus on the daughter later (good or bad example, YMMV).

Kirito takes a break in the arc following Phantom Bullet, named "Mother's Rosario" where Asuna takes up the role as the lead.

Yen Press has licensed the SAO light novels, so you'll be able to read them in due time, once they get around to releasing them. Otherwise or if you're impatient, just do a google search. Quality of the existing translations might not be the best though so you might want to wait...
