Interesting that this is 2 cour. I certainly welcome that, this is a fantastic franchise. At the same time, I imagine this is certainly going to push back any YOI sequel.

^MAPPA definitely have a full plate for the foreseeable future. 2 cours of Bahamut alongside Shokoku no Altair this summer, Inuyashiki this fall, Kakegurui at some later date, and (assuming they continue as the animation studio for them) the 3rd Garo TV anime and the next season of DAYS. I expect it'll be a while before we get any confirmation or mention of a YoI continuation.

Does it look like you have to watch the first season to know what's going on? I'm going to try to, but in case I don't get to soon, I don't know if I should wait or if it's okay to just pick the show up.

^I don't know exactly what story this is going to tell, but I would really recommend seeing the first season. It does look like it's going to be pulling from it a bit based on the PV.
