If they wanted a name that would drive the most traffic from google then wherecaniwatchfreeanime.com would be the best solution.

Oops, my bad, that was intended to convey Anime {fill-in-the-blank-} Network.
I feel terribly embarrassed. Its XXXX, and mispelling a word that even QLDers can spell is a big *facepalm*.

You mean you had to fly to Japan? It was considered that serious?
Blimey. |
Of course I may be wrong, but I imagine they mean that Aniplex had to have face-to-face meetings to discuss the situation internally, not that the North American staff had to fly all the way over there to address this. Because yeah, I don't think the contract is that lucrative that ANN could afford last-minute International airfare for this (from all appearances, it's an arrangement between Aniplex USA and ANN anyway). |
Skype anyone?

Well, a name like Anime XXX Network would certainly drive traffic to the site... heh. Unfortunately, a lot of said traffic would be disappointed that the XXX part isn't actually part of the site.

OK, then Anime XXX Network would be for the Press Release division, which seems to be the only place that "adult" content is to be found.
Anime News Network: the News Division
Anime Happy Network: the Happy News Division
Anime Info Network: the Encyclopedia
Anime Video Network: the Streaming: also owns watchfreeanimenow.com
Anime XXX Network: the Press Release section

That will sure confuse people searching for XXX porn and click on a site that has PR about itself in relation to reporting on Japanese cartoons. It will be one of those "wwwtf?"

Someone on a fansub blog posted an interesting write up to clarify how the hack was perpetrated. I don't want to link to a fansub site because that would be wrong (Sup, Gia), so I've placed it in tags below.
BEHOLD, how to "hack" a video streaming site.

[EDIT: Content deleted because, while it's technically not against the rules to explain how to "hack" a video streaming site, I sincerely doubt any of the top staff would appreciate this site being used to disseminate this kind of information. - Key]

You realize this is just an argument over semantics, since what qualifies as "fairly advanced computer knowledge" is going to vary wildly from person to person.

Its press releases from the distributors, and when its a hentai release, the press release can get a little racy.

1) I'm pretty sure it's been stated that there were other security measures in place.
2) As bad as linking a fansub blog may be, it's likely just as bad to post a walkthrough (in detail) on how to hack/steal/whatever-you-want-to-call-it a streaming video, as this also encourages/enables people to obtain shows through non-legitimate means.

So, what's the chance of this being resolved at all? I've actually held out on watching Oreimo from "questionable" sources as a sign of good faith. I wish there was another announcement about this from ANN. Either tell me it'll be back or not, that's all I ask .

Ok, my bad. There was one before 10/13 and I missed this one. Carry on then.
