Azumanga Daioh (TV).

Assuming that Kaorin is truly attracted to other girls doesn't require any substantial leap of faith, as the series makes it pretty obvious in my view. However, all this nonsense about Sakaki being attracted to pets in that sort of way is just plain creepy and is not supported by what I saw in the series.

It's perfectly normal for an average girl to love cute things and to seek them out, including house pets, without being attracted to them in that way. As explained over and over again in the series, Sakaki has never been able to truly indulge her desire to have a pet because her parents can't tolerate them. Thus, she has managed to develop a much stronger interest in being around them than the other girls have.

Also, having a pet in Japan is a bit less common than some other places. Here in America it's not uncommon for even relatively poor families to have one or more pets to look after, but it can be considered something of a privilege in Japan.

The concern is Sakaki's reactions to animals. I don't think any of the other girls in the show save Chiyo has a pet, and none of them freak like Sakaki about animals. We've seen how Sakaki blushes and gets all whoa when she's around Kamineko (SHE LICKS THE BITE HE GIVES HER). That kind of evidence is on the same level as Kaorin's lesbianism, so I think it's safe to say that Sakaki wants to stroke a bit more than animal fur, if you catch my drift.

As funny as this notion is, I don't really think really counts as evidence that Sakiki likes animals that way, and it sure as hell isn't "evidence on the same level as Kaorin's lesbianisn". Go read some hentai doujins and get those ideas out of your system.

yes quite similar. that line seems almost like some of the lines in Azumanga as well

Oh, that? It was a ghost. Basically, Sakaki's getting warm fuzzies over her very-special trip photos, and Tomo has to ruin it by pointing out something spooky and decidedly un-cute. (Wasn't there something on the ghost-photo thing in the cultural notes?)

It's the same with Kagura's obssesion with sports. Does that mean Kagura gets turned on by sports just beause she's obssesed with them? No, it just means she's passionate about being an athlete, just like Sakaki is passionate about being a vet.
