Went to Books-a-Million while waiting for dinner to be done, and we had a "save $10 off of $50" coupon, so I picked up Dr. STONE reboot: Byakuya and Dr. STONE Vols. 7-10 today.

RSA informed me that the Afro Samurai: Resurrection Blu-Ray I'd ordered back in July would not become available, despite earlier assurances that they'd eventually receive inventory to fulfill existing orders. So in the continuing quest to collect old Gonzo titles, I strolled over to Amazon to pick up the DVD version, along with

Gravion Vol. 1 DVD + Box
Gravion Vol. 2 DVD
Gravion Vol. 3 DVD

Gravion Zwei Vol. 1 DVD + Box -- which may allegedly contain vols. 2-3 as well. Will see if that actually holds true, or if I need to get those discs at a later date.

Though to be clear, I don't hold anything against Rightstuf for the Afro Samurai Resurrection delays/confusion; I think they were operating in good faith, and tried to do the best they could. I just didn't think that Afro Samurai would ever go out of print, considering that Funimation co-produced it, which usually means that they'd hold on to the rights in perpetuity. That's what we've seen with ADV and titles like Kino's Journey '03 and Elfen Lied, which are not only still in print, but still retain the ADV logos long after ADV's effective demise.

@ Zalis116 - I think that's probably a sign that Afro Samurai is not a big seller for Funi. I suspect we'll be seeing more of this in the future as the number of physical media collectors continues to shrink. The economics of re-releasing older, perhaps not hugely popular titles, just won't make sense.

"Good haul..." Dude, you bought all the anime! There's nothing left for anybody else! Wink

Just ordered The Red Turtle Blu-ray off of eBay. Technically not anime, I guess, but Studio Ghibli was involved. I saw this on the big screen a few years back and really enjoyed it. Anyway, managed to buy a copy that getchman hadn't already snapped up!

Husband got a small bonus from work today, so we used it on furthering our collections because why not? Laughing I actually got quite a bit more than he did, but he didn't mind.

Coming from a variety of Barnes & Noble, eBay, and Half Price Books:
Mai the Psychic Girl: Perfect Collection Vols. 1-2
RG Veda Omnibus Vols. 1-3
Dawn of the Arcana Vols. 9-13
Midnight Secretary Vols. 3 & 5
Wish Omnibus

All of these either complete series on my shelf or are being used to replace older books. I'm especially excited to have Mai the Psychic Girl completed; it was one of the first manga I read, thanks to a complete blind-grab at the local library, and even though I haven't read it in probably 15+ years it still stays in my head. Funnily enough, I have the third book, which I never read as a young teen and still haven't read now, so I'm even more excited to finally finish the series after so long!

Took advantage of RSA's Yen Press sale to get a few books from that company and others:

No Game, No Life Novels 6-10
UQ Holder! vol. 21
Hayate the Combat Butler vols. 18-21

Just gotta hope that NGNL gets out of hiatus hell someday. Though at least I'm less likely to run into OOP volumes of Hayate the Combat Butler going forward, after having to go to the secondary markets for vols. 4, 6, 7, 12, and 13.

I forget why Right Stuff sent me a 10% off coupon,
Ordered/pre-ordered:
Novels 2-8 of the Haruhi Suzumiya series
Photon: The Idiot Adventures (Discotek DVD release)

Because the later novels aren't released for a month and they don't like partial shipments (especially on free shipping), I may not get any of this until then, but I guess I'm not in a huge rush.

Made an order from Sentai Filmworks today, with some titles for my husband and most of them for me. Saw that a lot of them are listed for the same prices on TRSI, but meh. Laughing

The haul:
SCHOOL-LIVE! Complete Collection DVD
The Big O Complete Collection Blu-Ray
Grave of the Fireflies DVD
The Garden of Words Blu-Ray
One Week Friends Complete Collection DVD
Land of the Lustrous Complete Collection Blu-Ray
Good Witch of the West Complete Collection DVD
Beyond the Boundary Complete Collection Blu-Ray
Beyond the Boundary Movies Double Feature DVD/Blu-Ray
Angelic Layer Complete Collection Blu-Ray

First two are my husband's selections. I just KNOW I'm going to regret getting Grave of the Fireflies - there's a reason why I haven't seen it yet - but figured it's about time to remedy, and The Garden of Words I've heard nothing but good things. Pretty much everything else outside of Angelic Layer and Land of the Lustrous are blind-buys I got because they were cheap and I have some curiosity about them. Angelic Layer is basically to replace my DVDs (keeping my art box, though!), and I've been reading/collecting the Land of the Lustrous manga, so the anime adaptation should be an enjoyable watch.

Dang, Aura Ichadora, a lot of great titles there - well done! Yes, I understand your reticence over watching Grave of the Fireflies. I saw it in a theatre and it pretty much destroyed me. Don't regret watching it though and will do so again, no doubt more than once. Just gotta make sure I'm well-stocked with hankies.

Discotek actually announced recently during one of their livestreams that they were going to have Arion ready for pre-order for an end of May release and Rightstuf just started taking pre-orders for it earlier this week.
