Latest Ghibli Tribute Album Features Kalafina, Nogizaka46, Momoiro Clover Z Idols, More Performers

Studio Ghibli announced a second Studio Ghibli tribute album Ghibli wo Utau Sono 2 on X (formerly Twitter) account on August 28. Japanese composer, director, and producer Satoshi Takebe will produce the album. The album will feature 13 different musical artists.

The album will feature Aina The End, Yudai Ohno & Sōta Hanamura (Da-iCE), Sakurako Ōhara, Aya Ogawa & Iroha Okuda (Nogizaka46), Kalafina, Shigeru Kishida (Kururi) & Shiori Tamai (Momoiro Clover Z), GLIM SPANKY, Ninjin (from Rokudenashi), Non (Rena Nōnen) × SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS, Taro Hakase & Satoshi Takebe, Penthouse, Win Morisaki, and Hiromi Yakushimaru. Wakana Ōtaki will perform with Keiko Kubota and Hikaru Masai as part of Kalafina, and Hayato Kakuno will participate as a member of Penthouse for the album.

As of press time, no track lists have been announced for Ghibli wo Utau. The official website for Ghibli wo Utau Sono 2 states, “Each artist has created their own interpretation of the Studio Ghibli songs.”

Ghibli wo Utau Sono 2 is slated for release on November 19. The standard edition will be available through the Victor Online Store, Amazon, Tower Records Online, HMV & Books, Rakuten Books, Seven Net Shopping, and Studio Ghibli's Donguri Kyowakoku Sora no Ue Ten Online Shop. A Limited-Edition version with an alternate jacket will be available on the Studio Ghibli Donguri Kyowakoku Sora no Ue Ten Online Shop and Ghibli Museum Online Shop.
The first Studio Ghibli tribute album launched in November 2023. The full artist list for Ghibli o Utau includes Leo Ieiri (The Fire Hunter), Shigeru Kishida of Quruli (Real Girl), Kaela Kimura (Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle), GReeeeN (Teasing Master Takagi-san), Ryūta Shibuya of SUPER BEAVER (My Hero Academia), pianist Hayato Sumino, Momoiro Clover Z singer Shiori Tamai (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal), Kōhei Matsushita (DEEMO Memorial Keys), and Hikari Mitsushima (One Piece Film Gold).
