It would seem that attempts to move anime studios outside of Tokyo are largely fruitless, excusing, of course, for the obvious exception of Kyoani. (A status quo whereby animation studios cannot thrive outside of the capital is eerily familiar, I might add.)

I wonder if it puts staff in a position where they have to work exclusively for one studio and are wholly dependent on the one studio for their livelihood. If something goes wrong, they'd also be out the cost of moving back to Tokyo as well. Though the cost of living outside of Tokyo is probably lower too, so it has both pros and cons
The studio would be in a position where they'd either have to attract, recruit, or train staff in the area, as well. Doing business outside of a common talent hub can be tough for specialist work |

Maybe they're going save money not being directly in the capital.
I hope they can produce something worth seeing. Been ages since Gainax had. |

Don't forget P. A. Works. They have a studio in Tokyo, but the headquarters is in Toyama Prefecture. http://www.pa-works.jp/en/comp/index.html animenewsnetwork.com/feature/2017-10-25/the-community-activism-of-p.a-works/.123028 |
