I don't think this comes as a suprise after the 360's poor showing in Japan.

Yeah, it really shows they don't care this time. Which is a shame because when MS tried we actually got some very cool games.

Sadly I'm getting happier that I stick to my older consoles now, which newer ones having short life spans in my opinion. How do you guys think this one will do on that side of the Pacific?

My guess is not too well as Japan seem to be more inclined to play on handhelds, when I worked in a game store I remember when the Japanese tourists came in they only brought PSPs.

You mean they only bought games for it or something like that, right? I can't imagine tourists buying consoles in a store Anime dazed

Im not sure what you are talking about since the 360 and PS3 have had and continue to have a long lifespan.

I knew someone was going to bring that up, so I'd like to clarify. I have views about hardware that some might say is unrealistic. Wasn't the PS3 released in 2006? Let me preface this with the fact that I am not looking for an argument, but the Atari 2600 was released in 1977 and support was continued until 1992. Various versions of the Nintendo Family Computer or Entertainment System received support well into the 2000s.

I primarily play Sega Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast as my home consoles. Therefore, from my perspective, running between 2006 and today seems short to me.

Yep gotta love those Sega systems with thier official support killed not even in 5 years time.

That's better then a system supported for 7 years plus.

As I said I was not attempting to be abrasive. Rather I feel that it's sad that official support for these systems is so relatively short when the hardware reliability makes them last for years.

One - Vashna when the hell did you change your avatar - I was so confused, much like you were when I changed to Tajima Razz

Two - you were not abrasive, I think its more that others cannot articulate their point very well, without being abrasive themselves. (Just to point out I am not trying to start something personal, its just something that applies to many on ANN.)

Three - although I agree there is much life left in the 360, in terms that the graphics are still improving and games are not feeling dated compared to other technology around, in my opinion. But companies kind of have to do it to keep cash flowing in as a new console release generates a lot of hype which = a quick cash influx. Also many people expect a lot more form their console and become quite picky with how realistic the game looks compared to even Mega Drive days so companies have to keep up with the demand, which is fair enough.
