The three voice actors will star in a spinoff project titled "Uchōten ☆ Nicosei" on Niconico. The first half-hour episode will premiere on March 14, and regular episodes are slated to begin on April 11. The announcement did not specify whether the spinoff project will be animated.

The anime will premiere on the TBS and BS-TBS channels in April.

The manga revolves around Chihiro Komiya, an energetic elementary school student who was living with his mom. Chihiro is very good at doing housework and chores, and his mother's motto is "No work, no food." After his mother suddenly dies, a man named Madoka Taketori who claims to be his uncle shows up, and asks Chihiro to come live with him. Chihiro initially refuses, but when seeing the horribly dirty state of Madoka's rich home, he decides to start cleaning it. Then Madoka makes another offer to Chihiro: that he comes to live with him, but in exchange Chihiro will do the housework. Chihiro accepts this deal, but suddenly finds himself in a maid uniform.

Yūsuke Yamamoto (Welcome to the NHK, Sgt. Frog, Aquarion Evol) is directing the series at studio 8-Bit. Yoshiko Nakamura (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, Super Lovers, Hiiro no Kakera - The Tamayori Princess Saga) is in charge of the series composition, and Kana Ishida (The irregular at magic high school, Aquarion Evol, Wakaba Girl) is adapting the character designs for animation. Tomohiro Yamada is composing the music. Trustick is performing the opening theme song.

Ototachibana launched the series in Enterbrain's Comic B's-LOG magazine in the April 2008 issue, and Kadokawa published the eighth compiled volume in November 2014. A limited edition of the sixth compiled volume had bundled a drama CD in 2013 starring Houko Kuwashima as Chihiro Komiya, Takahiro Mizushima as Madoka Takatori, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Keiichirō Shinozaki, Madoka Yonezawa as Miyako Ōtori, and Yūki Kaji as Yūji Hino.
