The project was first announced in March 2013 under the title Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 3rd: Reflection. At the time, it was described as a brand-new story not based on previous material. ViVid Strike!, the new television anime by Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha creator and scriptwriter Masaki Tsuzuki, premiered on Saturday.
