Craftar, Yūhei Sakuragi's original film opens in Japan on January 25

The official website for CRAFTAR STUDIOS Inc.'s original anime film Ashita Sekai ga Owaru Toshitemo (Even if the World Will End Tomorrow) began streaming two teaser videos for the film on Thursday. The videos reveal and preview singer-songwriter Aimyon's insert song "Ra, no Hanashi." Aimyon is also performing the film's theme song. The film will mark the first time Aimyon is contributing music to an anime work.

The film will open in Japan on January 25, 2019. The film's poster visual below previews the protagonist Shin and the heroine Kotori.

Craftar is credited with the original work, and Yūhei Sakuragi (The Relative Worlds, Ingress) is directing the film and writing the script. Shochiku Media Division is distributing the film.

The film centers on Shin and Kotori, who are both third years in high school. Shin lost his mother when he was little, and since then he has a tendency to close himself off. Kotori is his childhood friend who always looks out for him. One day, another "self" from another Japan appears in front of them.

Sakuragi is also penning a novel that is considered the original work for the film. Kadokawa's Da Vinci magazine began serializing the novel in its November issue on October 6. The staff are also holding auditions for voice actors for the film.

Shochiku had listed in January that Sakuragi and Craftar would release a CG anime film this fall. CG anime studio Craftar worked with Sakuragi on The Relative Worlds. Hulu Japan and Craftar's original two-part "smart CG animation" project premiered via streaming on Hulu Japan in April 2017.

Craftar is Hakuhodo's in-house animation studio. The company previously collaborated with Marza Animation Planet to produce a 13-minute short adaptation of Genki Kawamura's Moom picture book. The company created the Uchū Neko Mardock no Bōken and Pâtisserie no Monster series of animated shorts in 2016.

The company has also been involved with Hayao Miyazaki's "Boro the Caterpillar" short, as well as the Garo -Vanishing Line-, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, Drifters, and Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions anime. Craftar has also worked on the Pokémon GO and Osomatsu-san VR games.
