Anime NYC takes place on November 19-21

TMS Entertainment announced on Wednesday that it will screen the English dub world premieres for the Lupin III: Prison of the Past special and the Case Closed: The Scarlet Bullet (Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet) anime film at this year's Anime NYC event. TMS will screen Lupin III: Prison of the Past on November 20 at 3:30 p.m. in Panel 4 of the Javits Center and Case Closed: The Scarlet Bullet on November 21 at 11:30 a.m. in the same panel room.

English voice actors Tony Oliver (Lupin), Richard Epcar (Jigen), Lex Lang (Goemon), Michelle Ruff (Fujiko), and Doug Erholtz (Zenigata) will be in attendance for the Lupin III screening. Attendees will also receive a Lupin III face mask that was designed for the premiere.

The Lupin III: Prison of the Past television anime special premiered in November 2019.

The special focuses on Lupin's gang infiltrating the Kingdom of Doruente in order to rescue a famous gentleman thief from imprisonment. Meanwhile, the best thieves from around the world converge on the country. The special takes the more comedic tone of the second Lupin III series (the "Red Jacket" series).

Hatsuki Tsuji (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Pan de Peace!) directed the special at TMS Entertainment. Stage writer and director Shatner Nishida penned the script, and Hirotaka Marufuji (Lupin III: Goodbye Partner, Aquarion Evol) designed the characters. Franchise music composer Yuji Ohno returned for the special.

The Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet (Meitantei Conan: Hiiro no Dangan) film is the 24th film in the franchise. The film was slated to open in April 2020, but was delayed from its original date due to concerns about COVID-19. The film opened in Japan on April 16. The film also had a simultaneous release in 22 countries and territories outside of Japan: Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and France.

Tomoka Nagaoka (Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire) directed the film, and Takeharu Sakurai (Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer) wrote the script. Katsuo Ono returned to compose the music. Rock band Tokyo Jihen performed the theme song "Eien no Fuzaishōmei" (The Eternal Alibi).

This year's Anime NYC event will require proof of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination and mask usage for all participants. This includes fans, exhibitors, artists, guests, crew, and staff. Founder of Anime NYC Peter Tatara noted that these new guidelines may change depending on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that the entire event staff has been vaccinated.

This year's Anime NYC event is scheduled to take place on November 19-21 at the Javits Center.

The Anime NYC Powered By Crunchyroll convention collaborated with livestream shopping platform NTWRK for an online version of the Anime NYC event in November 2020. The event was scheduled to take place in-person at the Javits Center in New York in November 2020, but it was canceled due to the effects of COVID-19.
