I think All region players go for about $100 or less.

The DVD? I would hope for at least $30 but I might be setting my sights a tad low. Razz

Did Millenium Actress not come out with a subbed version over here? I saw it subbed in a theater in NYC, I figured they'd release it on DVD with subs as well as dubbed.

Most non-big name brand (Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic) DVD players can be region disabled through factory setting menus.
If there's no rules against it, I can post a link to a page that tells you how to do this, if anyone wants it.

It's very well likely your current DVD player can be set to region free.

That's great that its gonna have English subs, although I'm not quite why they included them. I'm glad I have a region free DVD player. Now I just need to finish the TV series...

For anyone wanting to know more about region coding, I made a thread a while back that a lot of people have found useful.

More like $60, probably more if you're gonna have to import it and pay taxes

Unfortunately, no. Most computer DVD-roms have a set number of times you can change the region on them before they have the last change "burned in" to it's workings, IIRC.

Anyway, I'm not aware that linking to a DVD-Region switch site is against the rules (if it is, I'll be happy to delete this message, though.). You can almost certainly find your make and model at:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php
I found my ~$60 Magnavox player on their list and the hack worked perfectly. I became th proud owner of a region free player instantly.

You can even do it with the cheapest of DVD players that best buy offers: The Cyberhome CH-DVD300S:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6100961&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03013&id=1069297420815

which retails for only $40.

Ok, gonna assume it's not against the rules as well.
A good page for finding out how to region disable your set-top/stand alone DVD player is DVD Answers. As for setting your computer DVD rom drive to region disabled, you can download firmware from "The Firmware Page" or you can download a tool that lets you reset the number of times you can swap your region from the utility section of "The Firmware page".

Firmware is perminent, but has certain risks involved (though I'm a complete dunce and pulled it off without harming the drive). While a software alternative is not perminent, but there are no risks involved.

Great, this means it'll appear on the various torrent sites even sooner after the Japanese release Rolling Eyes
