G Gundam comes from the "Getter Robo/Mazinger" school of thought rather than the sub-genres Gundam is mostly known for. I thought it was a fun experiment. Interestingly enough, GaoGaiGar succeeded it and had the same head writer, Fuyunori Gobu. I consider it to be it's spiritual successor.

Like many others have said, Gundam AGE's 2nd Generation is generally better than the 1st. The 1st felt like a retread and drag on of previous Gundam endeavors (like how SEED was a slight retread/reimaging of Mobile Suit Gundam), just not done as well. The 2nd Generation hits all the right notes. We know who the enemy is and why exactly they are targeting Earth. There's also an emotional conflict at the core. As far as Gundam shows go, anything is better than SEED Destiny, IMHO.

I would try just watching the original UC material. Just avoid the movie trilogy for Zeta Gundam. If you can't tolerate classic (or outdated for some) 70-80s animation, the original SEED, AGE, and 00 is an ok place to start. The current Unicorn OVAs is for all of the UC aficionados. It really rewards those who have been paying close attention the Universal Century history, so I'd recommend that after watching Gundam (whether through the TV series or Movie Trilogy), Zeta Gundam, and Char's Counterattack. The other UC OVAs are for optional viewing, but add a layer a depth to the surrounding events during and after the One Year War. It's good to see something out of Tomino's vision sometimes.

The hell are you talking about? GaoGaiGar (1997), G Gundam (1994). Makes about as much sense as the rest of your post.

I have a funny (typical) feeling on Asem or Woolf dying.

Laughing Personally, I think Asem is tolerable. He's very friendly and naive, the latter being much like his dad when protecting people and friends (Flit and girls...), but tolerant.

I don't hate them. It's just that I think sacrificing them for some drama would be great. I'd personally kill off Asemu or do something like Zeta Gundam did.
