Yeah but let's be realistic here...

What kind of audience is going to buy a game like this, and would that audience honestly have a gripe with something as minor(pun totally intended) as loli nudity?

Well, its kinda understandable. The scenes they are removing have you rubbing down naked lolis in the bath, earning more points for removing more soap.

I don't see the problem.

And here I thought they were bring progressive by releasing Hyperdimension Neptunia in the US.

The problem is people outside of our community. If something like this leaked to the mainstream media and was brought to the attention of the morality police it would not be pretty.

Honestly, the LAST thing the anime (and anime-ish game) community needs is the attention of "family groups". As much as some people whine that the anime community is so small, I think it is a blessing that we have gone under the radar of all of the moronic groups that would censor us in the name of "morality" and "decency".

Every time I see an article about how some poor guy got arrested and charged with kiddie porn over imported or scanlated manga, I can't help but shudder knowing that we have things officially brought over and published in the US that could be considered worse than what those poor guys got caught with. Our saving grace is lack of attention from the mainstream, and as much as I f**king hate censorship, in this case anyway it's for the best.

Lets say that NISA did keep it in the game... Would it even be allowed to be released with a rating? Games need to go through ESRB ratings to get a game rating, and without a game rating (or if it gets an AO rating) stores won't pick up your title... and the ESRB is made up of more normal people. If they saw a scene where you are rubbing down naked girls who look like 6, they might not approve the game for rating, or give it an AO (Adults Only rating), leaving NISA in a tough spot where they can only sell the game through their website.

Is a potential loss of profit like that worth it just for a bathing scene? Or do you take away the risk of it not getting rated and just remove one minigame? It makes sense to me.

In all honesty, they would probably not lose that many sales if they could only sell it through their website. Most of their buyers probably buy NISA games online anyway

That is true enough however you are also forgetting most people that buy these games are from online retailers not some huge-chain stores like wal-mart. I have never not even once seen any nisa game in any wal-mart store and yeah game-stop sales would hurt but not enough for them to cut back to much.

One other thing is that nisa always has a limited edition set exclusive to their site. As you stated nisa has their own store, so is amazon and most people now buy their games outright from online sellers than offline with such niche titles which is what these games are. What do you think is gonna happen when wind picks up on school days hq and the fact you can have sex with setsuna?

All the girls in School Days are underaged so Setsuna is the least of the problem Laughing

And if they released Summer Days...

Anyways, I'm not bothered by the bathing thing myself. Proper hygene is important! It may even motivate those smelly otakus to groom themselves more! Laughing

I understand why it would be cut, though, and it's not like I own a PS3 anyways Laughing

my last bump becasue I have done enough "trolling/info dumping for a bit" My main point even though most girls are under-age in eroge it's the appearance or how one looks. Kotohana or Sekia look adult by anime standard... setsuna is 4ft tall loli...ahem oh well i am off to score some booze wish me luck lawl.

If they don't like it, they don't have to play it. Seems like a simple solution.

I'm sure any profit loss can be made up for with gimmicky Playstation Move controls that everyone seems to love for those segments .

On a more serious note, ESRB is weird and always over-rates a game. Persona 3 and 4 are rated for pre-teens in Japan, yet it gets slapped with an M in the US.

Except for the part where they will push for legal action and regulations to make sure no one else can play it either. That's the part people always seem to conveniently forget.

This. The people uneducated in the matter will just look at it as something that promotes child molestation. They won't understand the whole 2d=/=3d thing, just like how they think that GTA makes people want to go around killing real people.

Well, in North America it's "better safe than sorry". If a mom out there that complains on national news that straws she bought in Walmart for her kid resembles male anatomy, you BET someone out there would complain about a T game with some questionable content in it.

Sadly, it's how North America is. With Nisa, it was a do or don't. They also got the approval from the creators too, so they were alright with the change. They are still a pretty progressive, I think, but some things... just need to be done.

From the trailer I watched it seems like these loli bath rub downs increases and grows their stats like in typical monster catching games. Seems like a big part of gameplay they're removing. Will the US version be gimped in that department?

And as I said before, who would buy a game like this outside of those that this game is specifically aimed at?

People are like this game generally have better common sense, they won't be bothered by something like a little loli bath scene in a fictional game. The people who get their panties in a knot over this aren't even going to look at this game in the first place. They're too busy prowling for pictures of Starfire in Comic book stores.

WAIT WHAT! Did some mother actually do this....I am gonna be honest i'm kinda in shock at how STUPID that is if true. I mean i may doubt the intelligence of the average homo sapien but THIS is a bit much.

As for the topic at hand i get WHY they're doing it i just don't agree with it.
