I'm not big on "vacation spots" so I think I'd just rather tag along with Ginko on a sort of eco-tour.
I was torn among Kirara, Catbus and Nyanko-sensei, but ultimately went with the latter, since a) his Madara form incorporates the same protective plushie fly-along-ness of the former two, b) he has a take-along form, and c) he can carry on a conversation.

I am staring at two Nyanko sensei plushes, so that was my choice.
But I also love Chi, Kirara, and the Catbus.
As for vacation spots I love the above comment about a tour with Ginko, but for some reason what always sticks out to me is the Azumanga Daioh school trip to Okinawa. That seems like a cool place to visit, as opposed to the usual school trips to Kyoto/Nara where I expect most students actually go (although having been to Kyoto & Nara they are wonderful).
And yeah I guess real places interest me more than imaginary ones.

As an older anime fan, I'm a bit disappointed that Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service, Jongoro from Kimagure Orange Road, and Mii-kun from Leiji Matsumoto's various works. In the end, I wound up voting for Nichijou's Sakamoto.

I agree. Besides, I miss Tenchimuyo's Ryô-oki. Tecnically a "cabbit", but still.
I voted for Doraemon, btw.

Best anime cat is Arthur from Code Geass. Seriously, go to any scene with the student council, and just watch Arthur. Especially if you have a cat in real life.
But Arthur wasn't on the poll so I voted for Chiyo's Dad.
In addition to Jiji, the poll is also notably missing Neko from K. She's like a better version of Blair.

The really, really best cat is Shamisan from Haruhi Suzumiya but Sakamoto has the same pedigree so that's ok.
8th Best Vacation spot: Kyoto because it's the vacation spot for anime or does it just seem that way?

I was all ready to vote for Jiji, but then he wasn't there. He's definitely my favorite anime cat. Also what about the Baron?
(ended up voting for Nyanko-sensei, but yes)

Me too. If there was ever a single thing in anime that I wish was real, it would be Neo Venezia. The perfect vacation destination for a stressed out person. I would be there every time I took time off.
The cat poll was a surprisingly difficult choice.

My #1 spot for an anime vacation is the Hokey Mart.

And I know no one would WANT to vote for Kamineko from Azumanga Daioh (chomp!), but c'mon, if they're going to put Chiyo's Dad up there...

I'd prefer Water 7 to Skypeia. You don't have to deal with the whole angry god thing.

Not even considering how meeting the Count ultimately worked out for the boys, Luna is filled with nasty criminals and the grand finale of the Carnival is a public execution. Even minding my alcohol consumption so that I kept my wits about me (and I'd keep a very close watch on my glass), I think I'd pass.

true enough. i definitely wouldnt have skypeia at number 1 let alone on this list. i would think water 7 or dressrosa is a better spot than skypeia. as for an exotic casino , i would choose the casino / amusement park from fairy tail's tower arc instead of gourmet casino.
Also tenrei is a good spot , however if your only a guy that is since its a women only place. and guys there get the short end of the stick.
if there is one women only vacation spot that have to be on this list , i would either choose amazon lily or that female majority planet from Girls Bravo. at least in those two places a male would stand a chance.

The list was fun to read and had a nice variety. I agree that Neo-Venezia would be my number #1 choice, but I'm glad that it was on there.
Another place that I would love to visit is Kissuisō in Hanasaku Iroha.
