What did Oda do? |
he defended a child rapist (Toriko's author) and is still friends with him. He was also mentored by Watsuki, which really has no implications other than he probably knew he was a paedo. He also had nothing to ever say about Watsuki after his paedo exposure, which is also passable given Japan's strict privacy culture.
BUT, it's recently shown he still talks to him on a friendly level, which casts ALL SORTS OF IMPLICATIONS.
Was heartbroken.

Gross. Screw Watsuki and screw Funimation for supporting him.
I also find it incredibly ironic that Funi took down Interspecies Reviewers because it went against their standards but then stream a series from a literal pedophile. Good job Funi.

From this logic, anyone who still enjoys the series is a Watsuki supporter. Sure he’s a scumbag but people should still be able to watch and enjoy the series he has done.

I love rurouni kenshin, one piece and toriko. Couldn't care less what they do with their personal lives. There are many hollywood actors and directors that are scum (in the way they deal with their personal lives) but I still enjoy watching their stuff. Don't force your bulls**t on others pls

This is one case where I say just pirate it. I don’t endorse piracy, but it’s the lesser of two evils here.

Well, I wasn't going to make a comment myself beyond simply explaining who people were talking about and what they were referencing, but... personally, I don't think it's unreasonable for people to make their own decision not to support Watsuki or companies that still have business relations with Watsuki after that. We're not talking about something like shoplifting where damages are entirely monetary.

Separation of church and state has nothing to do with this case unless your argument is that laws against child pornography (not drawn but real children) are based in religion rather than in the fact that children are harmed physically and mentally, often irrevocably, through the production of said materials.

I normally agree, but it’s better than any money going to Watsuki. I’ve never pirated an anime in my 20 or so years as a fan. I don’t take making that statement lightly.

This is a really dishonest statement. Sex with a 16 year old prostitute (while really bad) is absolutely not the same as raping a child. It's still an awful thing, but you are grossly exaggerating with that.
He did not force himself onto some 10 year old against their will.

My "argument" is that the heinous actions of creators should not stop us from enjoying the works they've created, given they bear no direct relation to the heinous actions. The "separation of church and state" thing was meant to be a rough comparison and I'm sorry you didn't get that.
