Nah, not really. Not when it was shown that most of GoHands's shows - not just that aborted Tokyo Babylon show, but going all the way back to K - featured multiple instances of plagiarized images. Their studio was built in part on intellectual theft and that is something that should not be forgotten or forgiven. |
Interesting. Care to back it up with a source? Or was it revealed to you in a dream? |
Googling "Gohands plagiarism" will show several results aside from Tokyo Babylon, no need to get all high and mighty

This looks like the kinda thing that seems par for the course in Japan. If this counts as plagiarism, then most of Japanese media shouldn't exist.

I don't know if this applies in Japan, but in the US, from what I've heard, fashion designs are not considered copyrightable, except for the brand label--something to do with clothing being a necessity. Rebranded replicas of existing outfits are common. Copying those designs for an anime may be kinda lazy, but it probably isn't illegal. The real problem with GoHands is that, y'know, they made Hand Shakers and, somehow, a sequel to it.

Yeah, it's kinda like what you find in a thrift store vs what you find in a store like H&M.

Not really? This looks like the kinda thing that Japan gets very annoyed about when it surfaces. It's not simply the costume design, it's basically fully tracing, from outfit to pose. If something like this comes to light during production of a show or manga, or while it's being serialized, it usually ends in some sort of a punishment. (Or if an illustrator is revealed to have been plagiarizing they're usually punished in one way or another.) Mangaka and illustrators have been disciplined for far less! I assume these images, which are pretty damning, came to light way after K and/or the other franchises were done with (Googling GoHands and パクリ seems to go back to the Tokyo Babylon incident, suggesting that that is when people started looking into their stuff).

That GoHands is still in business was a bit of a shock to me.
