Interesting thought. I thought the former is absurdist to the hilt and the latter plays it at a lower key. With the last episode of "Happy World!" there is considerably less absurdity and one is presented with a story that runs like a standard anime morality play with a few relatively unique twists to bring out some small degrees of redeeming qualities in the show. So I didn't find "Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan" to be as much a satire of that one particular series so much as it was a loose tank cutting its own swath through the anime jungle. |
