I haven't seen this OVA. Really bummed out now about this. This might be what puts the fork in the Kenshin franchise, unfortunately. and that's just sad.

I don't know what the big deal is about getting back either dub cast. Both dubs were terrible.

At least Sentai licensed something that isn't some cookie-cutter slice of life school drama.

Nice, another Anime BD to add to my list for 2013. Good pick-up Sentai!

And yeah hope they can get the old dub cast back.

Promote the hell out of this, Sentai. Make America want more Kenshin.

Oh and, uh, maybe see whether Adult Swim is interested.

For two episodes, and apparently bad ones at that?

I'm secretly laughing at all the people who are "excited" and "ready to support" more Kenshin at the peak of this announcement right now 'cause I've at least seen the first episode of this garbage OVA and can't begin to tell you how bad it is, let alone my hesitance to see the second based on the possibility of Shishio winning the fight.

People who actually "care" about the franchise and are man enough to admit that Seisouhen is also a piece of shit need to get their heads out of wherever it's stuck and realize that outside of the TV series and Tsuikou-hen that Furuhashi has essentially taken the potential for any kind of an accurate depiction of the remaining (i.e. Jinchuu) arc and taken a dump all over it.

Not say the Jinchuu arc is a masterpiece, 'cause it's not. In fact, it's a bit inferior to Kyoto, but it stays in the spirit of the franchise and provides enough closure that it would be nice to see a proper ending or stopping point to an already beloved anime adaptation. But I'm not sure what it is whether Studio DEEN or Furuhashi just want to keep effing things up, or whether it's Watsuki's fault for not putting more of a stranglehold on these people because he just wants more money or what. But someday somehow, I'd like for this to end 'cause anime-Kenshin has been nothing but crap since Tsuioku-hen and it disappoints me, as I'm sure most of you will be when you actually sit down and watch this OVA.

Posts like this convince me that I need to give up on this franchise. If that was your intention, congratulations, you succeeded.

Hey, I'm THE Kenshin fan. And believe me, I'd love for the franchise to continue succeeding in anime form, but it ain't happening right now, which is too bad. And as depressing as it sounds, yes, at this point the franchise may as well be over unless some company is pissed off enough at its current state that they just outright reboot the whole thing. Unfortunately, there is no Matthew Vaughn/Bryan Singer duo equivalent out there to do what they did for X3 into First Class and salvage anything.

What the heck? I thought for sure Aniplex USA would have gone after this one...though I guess with the negative perception it's gotten they decided to let someone else take the risk.

Not sure how much interest I'd actually have in getting this though. Might get it, if they go for the old cast.

What risk are you talking about?

Risk of it not selling well enough for them I guess? These OVA's haven't been very well recieved from what I've heard.

@Divineking

Yeah, that is a valid point. But I suppose that if Sentai is only dubbing two episodes, they will not have to worry much about recouping the investment. Or if these OVA's are that unpopular/bad, Sentai could go the sub DVD route.

I bet sentai will try to get as much original cast as they can. They don't seem to be like ADV was with the casts but we will see.

Oh the irony in that comment...

Anyway, it's nice to see that this ova is getting picked up by a company that's more reliable to sell products reasonably to a mainstream market, unlike Aniplex USA which focuses on the niche market even more so than Sentai.

I have no regrets buying the Trust & Betrayal blu-ray, but this ova is not worth the Aniplex price. Go Sentai! Hope you get the license for K-On someday and release the blu-rays in a single set instead of overpriced volumes like Bandai did.

AWESOME news. Now, hopefully Sentai will license-rescue the anime (which Media Blasters no longer has), and get Bang Zoom! back to do the dub for this.

Hopefully, they'll fix the mistake they made before (using Monster Island to dub their media). Monster Island's only good dub IMO is Nadia.

Personally I never cared for he Nadia dub. I thought the dubs for Petite Princess Yucie and Getbackers were much better.

If the New Kyoto Arc OVA is not worth paying a lot of money, why bother buying it in the first place; do not throw away your money. Sentai has released season two of K-On (K-On!!) on BD. But if you are referring to season one, there is a cheap Anime Legends DVD set from Bandai Entertainment. I have this DVD set, and it looks good to me.
