Took a long time, well for a Shinichiro Watanabe show. I was wondering if Funimation had given up on it.

I didn't think they gave up on it, but for some reason I keep forgetting that Watanabe worked on it. Honestly, if you asked me what the last thing he worked on was, I'd probably tell you Space Dandy because this slipped my mind.

And I see that Funimation is finally raising the price of their LE's. What is the point of calling something a limited edition if it is only $5 more expensive than the standard edition.

I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, I liked that I could get an LE version for about $3 more on Right Stuf. There wasn't much extra, but the nicer packaging was a decent bargain for the money. On the other hand, I've found myself wondering if a few dollars was enough to make LEs profitable enough to be worthwhile. Plus, a few art cards and the box aren't a whole lot more than we usually get, so I wouldn't be surprised if people are reluctant to pay for the LE version.

This is what it says on Rightstuf's site:

This limited edition comes with a collectible art box as well as 4 art cards

It doesn't sound that great to me... Would be nice if it had the OST, or at least an art book. : /

I'm inclined to agree that the LE for this seems pricey when previous LEs with just the chipboard box would be a few dollars more. But, the items you suggested aren't too likely. Art books are usually in the premium editions that Funi sometimes does, and I think they've mentioned a few times on ANNcast that OSTs aren't worth the extra expense and licensing hassle. (Though I do think this is rather disappointing since OSTs are the thing I am most likely to shell out for.)

I remember when the first half of Space Dandy had finished, people were, save for a few episodes, pretty underwhelmed by it. Then the second half and this came out at the same time, and people slowly went from really being into this, to becoming really into Space Dandy.
